Exclamation simple mods for a faster bike

A friend of just bought an "09" Suzuki Bandit 1250s. Our top ends are about the same. He is pulling about 4hp more than me. The Bandit has about 87 lbs. of torque compared to my 65lbs. If I catch him sleeping at the take off, he can't catch me. But, if we take off at the same time he will pull out faster and I cannot catch up with him. The only mods he has done is a Two Brothers exhaust and a PC dyno tuned. The only mod that I've made is to plug up the Air Intake Flapper hose and run full air intake. This was very noticeable right away. It seamed to bring the power ban down to a lower rpm range . What can I do to have a quicker off the line time to stay with the Bandit without hurting my top end? I think that if I can keep up with him off the line, then I will have a better chance of getting to the finish line sooner. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated.

I say go with a DynoTune dry nitrous kit.

Edit: Take a look at Ken's Bandit thread. Dale Walker goodies are the way to go.

Pulling away from unnamed members isn't fair if you hit their kill switch or kick their bike over before taking off.

Give it up Brian. I went from a heavily modified 919 to a heavily modified 1250 Bandit. The Bandit is turning nearly 100 ft lbs of torque now. Game over.

Just kidding...a good launch will give you a better chance at beating him. But if he decides to give Holeshot Performance a call, well, just get used to staring at his tail lights.

Tha's high for the little Bandit, but the big Bandit is right up there. The 1250 makes a lot of torque right out of the crate (85 ft lbs), and whole bunch more with some goodies from holeshot.com (96 ft lbs).

One can order the parts and do the conversion... to naked.
Speaking of.. Can anyone point me in a general direction to get my GSF 1250 USD fork project moving... I have a few ideas, just need to bounce them off of someone with some fabricating experience.. I posted this very question at Max Suzuki and got no response... I've seen gsxr 1K forks used, but they look a little short... I was thinking busa or zx-14 fron end might work-

I guess...although I prefer the Bandit with the half faring. The street fighter version does nothing for me. If that was what I was after, I'd be more inclined to get a Triumph S3.

Here's a thought;
Success at the launch comes down to power / weight / traction, right?
Put aside power and traction for a minute and think about weight.
For the sake of argument, say your bike weighs 450lb and you 210lb.
Your weight accounts for around a third of the total.
Drop 10lb and see if it doesn't feel quicker to you.

I plan to die young, as late as possible.

I've ridden a few big Bandits, and I do not think there is any way a stock or even mildly modified 919 could beat one in a straight line race.

The old "no replacement for displacement" rule applies -

Now, I prefered the 919 because it does handle better, then again, the Bandit does tour better -

A heck, they are both great machines.

My bud in Columbia has a 1250 that recieved some goodies from Holeshot, his taillight looked pretty good......

I have a picture somewhere - of the bike, not the taillight!
