When I have the kerosene out for the chain, I'll usually use it to wipe the rims too.

Hasn't damaged mine...yet

I don't know what it would do on different paint or lighter rims. Mine still have the OEM finish (black), and I haven't seen any problem; if there is any issue with doing this, hopefully someone will chime in and tell me to stop I figure if it's safe for the O-rings, it can't be too hard on the paint. Plus, I just use what I need, I'm not dousing the wheels, and it dries up pretty quickly.

I like using it because it easily cleans up any chain lube spatter and road grime, including tar.

I do the same... There's usually some that sprays on anyways when I clean the chain, and usually what I'm trying to clean off is at least partly chain gunk, so it makes sense

Dawn dish soap and hot water and a soft cell foam scrubbie pad... Then rinse with hose water.
