Rear view camera

Has anyone done this? I want to try it but the price is a killer. My bike looks great without mirrors but I use the shilt out of them.

I would say give me the $500 dollars and i'll teach you a secret. TURN YOUR HEAD!

I have bar end mirrors on my bike. It still basically looks mirrorless with the benefit of having mirrors.

Come on man! Turn your head? I have bar-ends also. So why is $1100.00 for 3 horsepower cool but a $500.00 digital mirror isn't?

Were would you mount the display? (What would it cover... ) That would be my only concern with one. I like seein the guages. If you could custom the beeach in to the tank... that would be dope.

$1100 for 3 horsepower isn't cool. Unless that $1100 was spent on a sticker that gave you that 3 horsepower.

W/T is not the place to visit if I'm trying to be practical and thrifty. Cheezus, most everybody here gets all horned up over a pair of Satos and a PC3.... more than a thousand bucks for 5% gain. A set of CRG"s cost almost as much as this gizmo.

How much is a midget anyway?

I looked into this briefly and found that while waterproof cameras are almost literally a dime a dozen, waterproof displays most certainly are not! One thing you can do is overlay instrument displays on a video (rear view) image, and also prioritize size and shape of individual readouts to convey the most pressing information, such as a huge temperature gauge when the engine is overheating, or a screen filling tach near redline. Unfortunately, it will not be cheap.

Besides, WHAT IS BEHIND YOU IS OF NO IMPORTANCE! That is until you hear a siren or gunshots, in which case you shouldn't be doing what you were doing to get the attention of whomever is shouting or shooting at you and mirrors would be of little help.
Rob

If it has already been done, it is safe to assume it is possible to do it.
On the other hand, if it has not been done never assume it is impossible to do it.

I posted about this one a while ago Cerevellum It is made for a bicycle, it has programmable wheel size and a magnet and pickup. You would have digital speedo display as well as trip, top speed, average speed, odo, time of trip etc. It was to debut this past June for $300ish dollars. I can't seem to find one for sale yet. People spend silly money for mirrors, I think this is almost practical.

I rode with a guy last weekend who had one on his zx9.. it was pretty kickass. I have no idea how it performs compared to mirrors. We did get caught in the rain, and I've heard nothing of its demise.. (i dont know what brand it was either though)

I like it!! It says the camera angle covers 3 lanes of traffic, and the monitor housing is CNC machined aluminum and waterproof. The camera is also waterproof.
Looks like a cool toy. GO FOR IT!!
