Quick Release Topcase Mounting Idea's

I'm looking for idea's for mounting a case to my Ventura luggage rack. The case is similar to a pelican case and would like to be able to attach/disconnect it quickly with out removing the contents of the case. I would also like to be able to lock the case to the rack for extra security. One idea I seen online was to use two of these, outer piece on the rack and the inner piece on the case allowing you to attach the case by sliding it on and off. You can then drill a hole through the end big enough to put a lock through. What do you guys think? Any other idea's?

Nice job Ken! That's so simple and I'm pretty sure I have one of those locks around here some where. Going to have to give it a try.

I would lean toward this as a fairly cheap lockable option. I'm sure you can find cheaper ones too.

Though I would have to see how the pelican case fits on the Ventura rack.

Easy, sell your ventura rack to me and get something else! I'm interested in the Ventura Sport Rack, but haven't been able to pull the trigger yet. How do you like it? Do you have the sport rack? What are the actual dimensions of the rack?

I have the pack rack and the sport rack with bags for each. I love them. I didn't think I would leave them on all the time but since I started using them they haven't come off. I leave the sport rack on most of the time and only use the pack rack when I need to haul a bunch more. They both use the same mounting bracket so they switch out fairly quickly. I will try to get dimension tonight.

Thanks. Do they seem sturdy when loaded down (no shaking or wobbling)? I didn't see a max load limit on the vetura website, did the instructions list one? Also are the rack portions for the pack rack and sport rack the same size with just a higher vertical loop for the pack rack? I appreciate any insight.

I never felt any shaking or wobbling when loaded but the front does get pretty light when it's loaded heavy. One nice feature about the racks is if you don't have a passenger you can spin the rack around so it over the passenger portion to help redistribute the weight. I'm not sure on the weight limit but I've had a case of 22lr(5250 rounds) and a baby monitor in the big bag and it didn't flinch.
Both racks are the same size with the pack rat having the taller hoop. They measure roughly 11" across and 9" deep. The sport being 3" tall and the pack being 13".

The ventura rack is pretty sturdy! I've loaded at least 100+ lbs on it with zero issues. With how the ventura rack is set up, I'm able to load up the rack itself, and also put a large backpack/bag on the seat resting against the ventura rack and strap it all down.
