MT-03 Headlight Swap

Hi Guys,

Winter is over and I have come out of hibernation.

SO: Anyone besides this guy done the MT-03 headlight swap?:
'06 Honda 919 The Ugly Duckling - Custom Fighters - Custom Streetfighter Motorcycle Forum

Looking at ordering one off German eBay now... I think it will look weird without a smaller digital speedo tho... Anyone out there with this done?

I think it looks quite nice:

I'm pretty sure I've seen a few on here that have done it. I plan on doing one too. Let me dig around a bit and I can find some threads

There was also member on here that did the light with a trail-tech and gsxr front end. I will post it tomorrow

I found the Swedish build thread you have posted but none of the pics worked for me, too old.

I was thinking of going with the trailtech vapor but I think I might try it with the stock gauges first and see how it looks. If it bothers me I'll go with a vapor.

I found a line on some sweet headlight brackets that a guy on CBR forums was having cnc'd for these swaps. He's not doing it anymore but is either going to sell me his last set if the sale falls through, or give me the CAD file so I can have some made locally. If he does that I will have probably 5 or 6 sets made and sell them for cost for others who want to do the swap.

Headlight is on its way, just need to get the brackets figured out and then the bracket/clamps for the fork tubes. The ones I find on eBay for 43mm forks are damn expensive for how cheap they look...

You know, this is slightly off subject but I don't care for that bike or appreciate the guys view towards the 919 one bit. If you notice he says its one of the ugliest bikes hes seen. And dubbs it the ugly duckling. Wtf? So he goes off and basically chops it up and IMO makes it ghetto. Used the box the speedometer came in for a housing piece(if I remember right)...chops up the tail and adds what I consider a lump of foam and vinyl on it so it looks like a flies ass, and then changes out the headlight and uses a couple chunks of metal for the brackets, yeah that's not obnoxious. Psh please....there's nothing wrong with a stock 919, the guy who customed it like that (bazzy?) didn't do a damn thing for the 919.

I know what you're saying Callinmeupward. I actually love the look of the 919 and have been torn on the headlight but think it wouldn't hurt to update the look. I just plan on doing a 900rr exhaust conversion (tired of the stink), the MT03 light, and maybe a new cluster. It's a great bike that I plan on keeping for now on. I see no need to really get another street bike. It's already faster than I can be.

He'res a link to bazzy's thread on wristtwisters

Here's a link to AsianRednecks bike. You could probably send him a message about his light set up.

Tucker_98 I would be interested in a mounting bracket. You should do a how to when you're done because I know a lot of people have been interested in this light for a little update on the 919.

A how to will be in the works as soon as I get the parts.

I agree guys. The bike in the ugly duckling thread does look like weird with that seat (in my opinion), odd color fender, way headlight is mounted, etc. However I do like the headlight. And the bars. And the mirrors ( same as mine ).

Still waiting to hear back from the CNC shop. I have the headlight just no means to mount it. Going to try a different shop. Between work and the new bike I haven't spent a while lot of time on it haha

I hate to say it man but a round bucket just looks better to me than those setups. I think the last of the Ducati monsters I liked had round buckets on them as well....

I guess I am jaded though. I got both a Hawk and a Hornet and both of them are running OEM buckets (with upgraded wiring).

If you have some tools around just make your own brackets.
