Magnetic Tank Bags

I noticed that several mfrs. of mag. tank bags recommend that you not put your credit card in them. What about electronics (e.g. pda's, cell phones, mp3's, etc.)???

My JR Manta bag (FOR SALE) has a dedicated cell phone pouch so I'd say they are down with it.

I've been using magnetic tank bags for years and have never had a problem with credit cards or electronics.

I had a Firstgear Silverstone tank bag that had super strong magnets along the entire bottom. It ruined 2 debit cards before I figured it out. I now use an icon tankbag that only has magnets on the 4 "wings" and my cards seem safe in this one.

My cell has not been hurt by either one.

I just purchased a JoeRocket MANTA tank bag this summer.
On about a half-dozen rides I've carried my new digital camera and wallet (among other things) & haven't noticed any issues.

I have an Ortleib one that's never erased a thing in it's life but I also don't get anything near the magnets.

I think the biggest danger with those bags is grit on the road sticking to the magnets, and then grinding into the paint.

that's a great movie.

I've had my wallet in my tank bag and did not have an issue with the credit card. But I only did it once because I thought to myself as I was riding what if I'm at a stop light and someone just grabs the bag right off the bike and takes off. Odds are extremely low I'm sure but I've never put my wallet in there since.
