The CA version is just too dim; it's dangerous.

You want this one.

I have forever stained the CA tail light on this website. LOL although pvster is always the first to trash CA when someone brings it up. I'm still so happy we all made that happen

Does anyone know if the one on ebay is the CA one? I can honestly say I've checked mine and it looks like its plenty bright but maybe I just have nothing to compare it too??? I have a clear lens on it but I did happen to notice it looks like a couple of the LED's may not be working on mine. Maybe I will pop up a video when I have a chance and gather some opinions on the matter..

rpcraft, the problem with LEDs in general is that they're very directional. If you look at the LED in the right direction, they look super bright but as soon you start to approach the ends of viewing angles, the brightness is greatly diminished. The other issue with LEDs is their distance based on the power input. For example, my Watsens are 4 volts (that's a lot for an LED, it only takes .7 volts for it to turn on) and they're so bright you can see see them clearly through the masking tape in the middle of the day at distance with a picture (they're posted in the pnw trackday thread). The CA unit looks great directionally, but the second you get beyond 25 feet and/or off to the side, the brightness drops off a cliff. Then there's the issue of brightness in broad daylight which sucks for the CA unit. The integrated units are even worse.

As to what's on ebay, I can't really say to be honest. CA went out of business so we've no idea if the units on ebay are just leftover shelf stock or if they're cheap Chinese knockoffs of an already shitty product.

Boogun, I may be the first to trash CA when it comes up, but I'll be trashing it for a long time to come thanks to you ; P I, like googl3it, believe the CA unit just isn't safe for the idiot drivers we have out there. I love my CUSTOMLED unit, and I won't ever go back. Even though I have an issue with mine which was the result of user error and is a quick fix, I speak very highly of CUSTOMLED. I wish I could say the same for Watsens, but sadly I can't since they've changed their units so where you cannot optionally add in running lights which is just plain stupid.

You know, the other root of the problem is that when you solo it all the time there really is no decent way to check your brake light brightness from afar. All you can do is turkey look over the back of the bike as you hit the rear brakes. It would probably be a good idea to set my camera up somewhere and get it on video and get some opinions on the matter. At least that way someone can give me some input. I got no problem replacing it with a better product if this one is deemed "shabby"

Pvster, after listening to all the praise you bestowed on the Watsens, I bit the bullet and ordered their turn signals. After an exceptionally long wait, due to a back log of orders, I received what may have been one of the last sets
they made with the running lights. I have had them installed for a little over
a year now and I couldn't be happier. Yes it's too bad they changed, but
still a good product, none the less. And oh by the way, I was in on the original group buy for the CustomLED tail light that Boogunoogun got started.
Great unit, would never go back to stock or the CA that I had before.
