I'd bet it works great. Can't be worse than a kawasaki wheel. They bend just looking at pot holes.

Now I'm thinking that a post 1996 900rr front wheel is the same as the F3. Lots of threads on it at the RR forums...

I thought there was an issue about diameter - were only the early ones 16"?

What all would you need to make this work? Just curious. Will the 919 rotors and brakes fit straight out of the box or do you need special spacers and F3 Rotors/brake caliper adapter?

For the bare wheel, you mean? I think you'd need F3 rotors and an F3 axle, then create your own spacer stack to centre the wheel in the fork [some 919/F3 spacers are a help, but you need a spare or two], then shim the 919 calipers inboard a little to match the new rotor location.

^ Correct.

I ended up getting a brand new set of 900rr 17" wheels. I'll find out, I guess, if the front is a direct swap. I know the rear is.

At least I won't have to paint or powdercoat these.

Well, it looks like I won the auction on the Chinese wheel, too. So I'll have something to compare the 900rr front (post '98) to, lol...

I'll end up selling the other on here eventually, but I want to take some weights and measurements first.

'98's still had a 16" and turned like crap. When I put a 17 on mine I don't think I've ever noticed a more instantaneous transformation of a motorcycle. Granted I was going from the stock Bridgestone to a 207GP Dunlop, but the 16 sucks donkey dick. I'm tellin' ya

I frickin' hate ebay sometimes. Just had to open a case on the two 900rr wheels. Guy tried to pass them off as 'NEW'. Boy, is he going to get an earful.

No, it's not, even though the auction mentions two 17" wheels (and the main pic also makes it look like they are the same size.

Surprisingly, the seller responded pretty quick to my nasty gram, they should be picking the box up tomorrow. Can't say that they were packaged back in as nice as when I received them (that is one thing they got right) but at least they are taking them back, and quick.

I told the seller though, even if he had advertised these as 'used' with 'new' powdercoat, I STILL would have sent them back. The powder on these was TERRIBLE. Sand all over, stuck in the powder, bumps and smudges everywhere, fingerprints in the powder, etc. etc. I couldn't believe it. I told him I've seen much better powdercoat jobs and that maybe he should focus on a better product .

Here's to hoping my Chinese wheel is better.

Got the Chinese wheel today, didn't expect it to arrive so quickly.

It's good. Definitely a better powdercoat job than the other guy. And it does look to be powdercoat, not anodized. Maybe that's where they save their $.

WOW, I think I had an aneurysm just trying to deduce what this fellow was trying to say:

gomsermotorparts sent you a message about your request:

"You are absolutely right, we ask an apology and we are doing everything to solve this problem. We did not have a benchmark to compare the rear wheel, welding saw, as it was so well done, we thought it was original and was made that some sub-model motorcycle category. (it was a fully human error and was not intended to offend anyone), our mechanic was undergoing chemotherapy when the wheel was sold and was the only one who knew how to disassemble the rim, for that reason the rim was not removed (we would have saved a lot of money in the delivery if we have done, but we don't could) (think that installing a new tire will not be charged for removing this) (asked for an apology for this). These are errors that occur, but are not intentional, our stores have over 40000 different parties and there are always some parts that confuse us, but we try that if there is a problem we solve it immediately. I hope this is resolved and we can be forgiven for this error. Cordially Kevin Husky Manager"

The issues I had were mostly with the 900rr rear wheel, sorry. Kinda thread-jacked my own thread.

F3 Chinese wheel looks great - I'll most likely be dropping bearings into it tonight.

On that welded rim. Years ago they would cut the rim and widen it. End result was welds like that.
Bet that rim started life as a narrow f2 or earlier rim.
