A Dilemma

So, for our fifth anniversary, my wife bought me two givi e45 cases and an sw-motech alu-rack (without any adapters). She didn't get any of the side racks for the cases either.

So here's my dilemma. Do I get the quicklock side racks (~249 from TT with the adapter), or do I get the givi adapter for the Alu-Rack (~35 from TT) and see if someone wants to trade a hard case for a soft tailbag or something (like the wolfman beta bag)?

I don't really plan on going on very many huge long trips, but I do take weeklong trips down the east coast a couple times a year for work. I have actually considered getting the sideracks plus the SW-Motech adapter for soft bags for the alu-rack, but I don't necessarily want to go into overkill mode, plus those racks are friggin expensive, and I just got a huge speeding ticket (in my wife's car even, Grr!!), so it's not like I have money to burn.

Any ideas?

IMO there is no substitute for hard lockable luggage. Play the hand you are dealt and say thank you. I have three E36 cases(one as a top case) and two E45's for expansion.

Very thoughtful on your 5th Anniversary.

Congrats.

Keep the hard cases. You can always sell them for decent coin if you change your mind later or sell the bike.

+1, no more worrying when the bike is out of sight for a bit.

Thanks for the advice guys. I guess I'm going to try and get the single plate for the Alu-rack now, and try and pick up the side racks in a month or two. That'll let me mix it up a little for times I don't need the full luggage set.

Congratulations on the 5th.

Now you need to get her trained for future ones as buying you half the gear is no good!

There is always a possibility that by buying you touring cases she is wanting you to get away more! Bahahahaha

lol, I think she might be getting the hint that I wanted something pricier since I got her a laptop for Christmas she got me a soundbar for my wrangler. Don't get me wrong, I love the thing (and needed it!), but it's not exactly on par with an 1100 dollar laptop. Quid Pro Quo, amirite?!?!

I went ahead and took the plunge and got the sideracks, plus the rear just in case I want to mix it up. Hopefully my lawyer will keep me from paying too much to the man later this month!
