So I currently have no bike... Wanderlusting over a new one...

I am not buying anything, but I can't help but wonder what it will be when I get around to it.

Right now, these are the two front runners in my head. I am sure I will change my mind a hondred times before next year.

and

Of course it will all come down to my mood when I have money in my hand. The small Triumph has the ability to be a fun bike for years and years. The Aprilia.... well, I can see getting tired of it after just a year.

I seriously considered the bonneville with its bench seat providing fantastic 2up ergos. Then rejected it due to its front single disk! Have they added a second disk option?

Slow? Did I hear slow?

No bike is slow! Some just require more cornerspeed for a decent straight away speed!!! The Bonne is light and silly fun.... and believe it or not... capable of embarassing plenty of people.

As for the FJR, it is high on my list. In the past, it was never given consideration due to the overlap of my Tiger. They are two different ways of providing me the same end result for long distance. When Simpson was considering a Sport Tourer, I was heavy pushing the FJR.

Those Triumphs look pretty sweet, there is a guy running around my neighborhood on a scrambler and that thing looks pretty awesome in person, so do the Thruxtons.

cheap, uninspiring, easily attainable and will get me by until I find something I really want?

Hell, I have said that about the 919 all along. nothing new here.

I have done no research as to service intervals or wear items.
This will all be as I get closer to actually doing something.

I do think the Bonnie is far ahead in the reality column.

Very true. All of it actually.

Luckily for me, the Triumph dealer in town is the best dealer to deal with on new bikes.

I will be able to get what I want. The best part, is if it is not available, I am patient enough to wait and see what next year holds. And when I am not dead set on any bikes, he lets me knwowhat he is willing to make the biggest deal on. Honest dealer is hard to find!

I know where you can get an awesome FJR with less than 2000 miles.

(I'll just keep throwing in random subliminal references to the FJR until people are begging me to buy it)

I like the scrambler. But I find the Bonnie more comfy seating wise. The Scrambler opens you up to more wind and can get a little tiring after a while. I am used to doing a lot of highway miles.... so wind it a small factor.

dealer around my way shows us what he owns it for them shows us the factory incentive thats not always advertised... most times hes making less then 200...just to get rid of the bike...sales man that we deal with says....he makes his $50 ...if he sells it for 8500 or 7000 ,,its all the same to him

dont need a bike to ride the fast lane

what is the aprilla you posted? I was drooling over a used 2007 SXV 450 last week. Wire wheels were pretty cool. Especially when wrapped in the rear with a 180/55/17! Looked like it would be really fun to commute on, or blast down some country roads. It was really light. They want $4500 for the one I was looking at. It had 1100 miles on it.

Thats the 750 SM - loosly based on the Shiver 750 - Its basically a bit less Bonzi version of the SXV - Its a bit more real world - The SXV is a total go directly to jail, do not pass go, all out , raged edge kind of bike that is very maintence intense. You must change the oil like they reccomend or you will pay . As for the top end replacments that everyone was fussing about when they first came out, dont sweat it. Do a top end when you notice a drop in compression, the factory Aprilai team raced half a season on the original top end. Thye only replaced it to error on the side of safety. Thier second year, it went the whole season on one top end.- As long as you are willing to beat it everytime you ride it, its a great bike. Slower riding or long distances, well, its not so good - If I lived more in the moutians , Id have one to roll out and embaress liter bikes all weekend -

F4I - Here what I think -- as if your intrested ,

Bonnie = sexy , do a nice exhaust and take it to the hardcore Cafe thing, man, would that be fun !!

Aprila = Holigan, a smile maker on every ride.

But, after having finally ridden the wifes Ducati Hyper Motard, Im a fan ! FUN , FUN bike that makes cool sounds and handles amazingly ! It not an everyday bike, but, its a riot ! Plus, if you wanna ride one , Ducati is doing a demo day in Lake James , just a bit west of here -
