Rode my friends GSXR 600

I went for a ride yesterday with a couple of buddies and one of them let me switch bikes with him for a little while. I enjoyed riding his 07 Gixxer 600 quite a bit. It definitely has a much nicer suspension than my 02 niner. It also was quite a bit more flickable. Power wise, it was nice but not really any better for me than the 9er. Less midrange with a little more up top. Great bike that I really enjoyed borrowing for a few minutes. But, I don't think I could get used to feeling like my hands were below my knees. I'd like to ride one with heli-bars but I couldn't live with one as is. I can see how something like that would be much faster on a race track but I'll keep the 919 for everyday riding.

yea thats exactly how I felt about a cbr600. I rather the 919, because its a little more relaxed and allows for longer traveling without killing my back... I have had a bad back since I was 15 so its kind of important for me to not be in pain.

heres a pic of my other bike. i rode it over 10,000 miles in the last year and half. then I decided to get the 919. At first I was dissappointed in the 919 and thought it needed more power, the wind was way too much, and it turned way too slow. They plus's were i could ride comfortably and have a passenger. After a couple hundred miles on the 919 i never rode the other bike again.

My journey through this sport of riding seems to have evolved from a love of horsepower to a love of torque. The older I get, the less enamored I am with HP and the more I appreciate torque. Maybe it's just me. But that's the power that gives me a thrill.

The Naked section is where the 919 guys tell their stories. You still found it, didn't you? Any more stupid questions? :P

To compare a 919 to a Gsx600r is almost like comparing apples to oranges. The only similarities are the peak hp/torque numbers and possible top speeds. Power delivery and comfort are on different sides of the planet,as well as styling.

I can compare the 919 w/ an 03 gixxer 1k. My friend and I swapped out bikes on our way back to Jacksonville from Daytona. The Gixxer is an all out race bike that begs to go fast and has enormous power at practically everything over 6k. It is NOT a very forgiving bike to ride for a novice driver. Nor is it comfortable. Pretty much the same as a 600 except for the extra 40 or so hp.

My friends opinion of my 9'r.....

He wanted to take it off road and hit some jumps on the beach.

It's a helluva lot more comfortable than his bike.

The perfect commuter.

Power comparison.... P L E A S E. However he does give creds for the ability to keep up in almost all street driving situations we come across.

IF this were a 919 site then I'd understand... but it's not.

It doesn't matter what you ride...as long as it has a 919cc engine.

Here , here ! Granted, Im pretty sure the GSX-R will have some advantage in top end due to its aerodynamic advantages - I saw 150/155 with the mrs at a trackday ,aand that was with my large butt on it on a short straight !
