Rider down

Cleveland, TN 16:00 9/17/08

There was a rider killed in an accident with a semi-wrecker this afternoon at a 4 way stop just 5 houses down from me and in front of an elementary school shortly after class was released for the day.

Don't know what it is about this one and I did not even know the rider, but maybe just the fact that it happened so close to my house has got me bugged. My thoughts and prayers go out to the riders family.

Wow thats awful. My sympathy to his family and those poor kids who may have seen the accident.

Spec I know how ya feel, I hadnt had my 9'er more than a month and rode up on an accident at in intersection. Bike was all torn up so the rider had to be too. I turned around and wondered if it was a sign. All we can take away from these things is to take that extra look at an intersection, let that one extra car go by to pull out safely, and look further ahead thru curves.\

Ride safe everyone and RIP to the fallen rider.

That's sad, I'd be shaken up too. My sympathies to the anonymous rider's family and may he rest in peace.

At Uncle George's memorial one of his Wing buddies stood up and spoke, said when he was talking with George after Barbara's death George had told him how life is a matter of seconds. One second shorter at the gas station and they would have been ahead of the wreck that claimed her life. One second longer and they would have seen the accident unfold ahead of them and avoided it. George understood that every second matters in our lives, all we can do is be as careful as humanly possible and live each moment to the fullest.

My prayers go out to the rider and family.

The thing about these type of things that gets my goat is the aftermath. It seems today more than ever, I get more people telling me how dangerous motorcycles are! It use to be mostly women, now even more men interject with "their" experiences of a motorcycle death.

It's better to have loved and lost than live with the psycho for life!

Road past carnage of a three lane exit ramp of a down ZX-7R. The guy appeared to misjudge lane splitting, since his bike was flattened on the dividing line. Unfortunately most the guys on sportbikes are not ATGATT... The ambulance was gone, but lots of ER vehicles and paperwork is a bad sign.

Got a wave HI from the Sheriff proudly on a new ST1300, who after cleanup duty was happy to see me.

Agreed, I was explaining ATGATT and SQUID to some of my friends I was hiking with yesterday right after we passed a squid and his GF getting back on a 600rr. One of my buddies was kinda chuckling as I started defining squid and when I hit the last two letters, it went from a laugh to a hush, then a "You're right".

Being active in rescue/EMS/FF myself, all the apparatus present could have meant a lifesaving outcome. My hopes are high that I'm right.
