Painting fairings

OK, so I made a small error when I stripped the sticker off the right side of the Strom, and I now have a few spots of black ABS plastic showing through the paint. My question is, since I was planning on a paint job this winter anyway, How do I prep ABS plastic to accept paint? I figured to cut down on the cost of getting the paint done proffessionally, I would do all the prep work since that is what takes most of the time, and then drop them in a local auto paint shop's capable hands for the finished product. My paint schedule just got accellerated due to my error in pulling off the sticker.

I really don't know where it went wrong. I heated the sticker with a hair dryer, picked up the corner, and started peeling. This is where the rub comes in. Instead of removing the entire sticker, I pulled off the vinyl, and it left the actual sticky/glue part on the fairing. That stuff did not come off with just a pick of my fingers. So I resorted to chemical treatment via this product called "Goof Off" that I have used in the past to remove sticker residue and permanent marker. Well, this stuff began bubbling the paint, and now I have black plastic showing through. So, now I need to at least get the upper two fairings painted my color of choice. (which I am still deciding on.)

I figured with the wealth of knowledge on here, someone might be a paint specialist. Thanks.

Just put a Honda sticker over it. The bike will run better.

Don't remind me they didn't import the thing. But...I guess you just did. I can't help you with the paint. But I do harass pretty well.

Ok, pack up your best underoos, shave your legs, and i'll have my PA connection to give you the details. Moderate hours, no benefits, and weekly gloved inspections by XX are mandatory. I take 100% of the cut, and pay you no mind. Sound like a plan?

OK, so I gave in to my laziness/broke ass gene. I ordered a new fairing from the dealership yesterday. $130 shipped was cheaper than getting both sides painted. I still anticipate a paint job, it's just gonna have to wait until my finances are better suited for it. Thanks for the help.

Well, since you said that, now I gotta figure out how to drop about 200# from it for better off-road capability.
