Nearly bit the dust again....

I was in the median this morning right at my work when this little white truck decided to just barely miss me in a front end collision. He came over the Railroad tracks at about 40 mph and just started to drift into the center (median) lane... where I was trying to turn left. I was at a full stop. By the time he locked the brakes up he was already past me about 20 ft. He missed me by about 1 foot. Thought I may have had to go back home to change my knickers. Apparently bikes are VERY unnoticeable.

Thankful to still be around.

HELLS yeah it's fun. And I always use high beams in the daytime. This guy wasn't paying attention at all.

I've always been told to use the high beam during daylight and low beam at night.
I saw a couple bikes recently that had headlight and/or brake light modulators - those things REALLY grab your attention. They clearly stood out in a long line of bumper to bumper traffic. Whatever it takes to be noticed.

Glad to hear your OK!
Jacksonville has it's share of cages with no respect to the two wheeled motorist. (or are they idiots with a DL?)

Tally it up as lesson learned.

People just don't pay attention. I got in an accident this summer at work because someone wasn't paying attention and drove into the back of my fully loaded tractor-trailer gravel truck. He was also driving a gravel truck. I was turning left onto another road and was stopped waiting for traffic when he drove into me at highway speed. No skid marks on pavement and no indication he was trying to avoid me, even had a passing lane to the right. If he never noticed me he would never have noticed a bike!

I was O.K. just a little shook up and the guy driving the other truck got away lucky with just a broken ankle ( I thought for sure he wasn't going to make it when I saw the truck).I watch my mirrors like a hawk now when ever I turn left off the road just in case.

Here are some pics of the trucks after they cut him out and the trucks were pulled apart and off the highway.

Speaking of people not paying attention it drives me nuts when I see someone driving along in their car and texting on their cell phone. When they look up from the phone they always have this look that says "oh right I'm driving".

If God had wanted us to be vegetarians why did he make animals out of meat?
