Moped advice

My girlfriend is interested in getting a moped. Anybody know anything about em? I'm looking for an older 80's style with the pedals. I don't have a clue what brands are decent. I was thinking staying with honda, but have seen a bunch of odd names. Also, where do you find parts? Can they even be found? Help a moped newb out?

I remember seeing tons of PUCH around over the last 30yrs. They had the pedals too which was rare for their class. Would go a bit faster than the rest. Very utilitarian. They're still on the road. Step through frame.
Dang, now that I think about it, I'm interested too!

If you're into Mopeds and need any parts/advice check out these guys: http://www.myspace.com/1977mopeds

I was working on a project in Kalamazoo MI last year and came across this shop. The guys in there were very nice and happy to talk about mopeds new and old. They had some real nice vintage stuff in their shop and connections to get all kinds of parts. They seemed to specialize in jackin' up mopeds for racing - sounds kind of funny but the one guy pulled out a real old one and went ripping it through downtown Kalamazoo faster than I ever imagined you could!

Haha. That's a pimp ride! It's got ape hangers! NICE!

What's the brand name? The only thing I can read is city bike.

Thanks for the link. I think racing mopeds would be a riot! Maybe the GF would like a few mods. Hmmmm.

I've been looking at buying for for my son, heck I want to ride it too, and have found the brand Lambretta. They have a 4 valve head and are supposed to be set upo to move damned quick for a moped.
Then Aprilia has the SR 50 which is a two stroke racing model. This is most likely the one I will get as we have a dealer nearby.
