Is this it? Looks cool but they should come up with a different name, MonoGP sounds like a new version of Mononucleosis(SP?)

That looks like spec-class racing at it's finest! I can't wait to see it on the track.

I think it looks like it's going to be alot of affordable fun! Hell, you could even race these things in parking lots like they do with Supermoto.

Yeah, he's talking about those little Roland Sands bikes. They are going to be awesome to ride. He basically takes a 250 or 450 4 stroke dirt bike and makes then into a sport bike. WOW. He's done it for a few of the manufacturers.

I'll bet they're good for 120 mph, we have a track here in Alberta that would be perfect for them.
hey tpirman where'd you get that front fender on your 919?

Very interesting concept. I wonder if a conversion kit will be made. Would be a lot of fun to do it yourself.

That thing is retarded.
A motard is as close as you should get to converting an off road bike to the street.
They already have bikes in that form. One's that would probably spank that thing like a redheaded step child.

XR, what are you talking about? Just because they use a 450cc single from a dirtbike doesn't mean its a conversion!

And those would smoke CRF-motards...at least on a road race track! And, as a former owner of a CRF450 motard, they are crap at high speed. I would not want to gear one for 120mph and see what it felt like. Even the Duc Hypermotard was too flighty for me.

As soon as Aprilia came out with the new v-twin 450/550 we all hoped they would put it in a RS250 chassis. That would be the perfect racer.

If these start coming out at reasonable prices I might get one to race next year. I never bought a GP bike because I didn't want to deal with top ends or jetting all the time.

But yes, as a street bike it is retarded!!!

Super Mono racing is bigger elsewhere, but hopefully it will pick up here.

Anyone remember this:

Thats what I'm talking about.
Not Just the motor. Honda's Off Road Desert racing team has the 450x doing 114mph.
I'm saying Rolland Sands is using the frame & swing arm built for wheel travel.
Maybe it's his typical hack it together style that I don't agree with.
I'm seeing suspension set up headaches for the rear & possible rake & trail issues.
Like I said. I'll just wait & see.
I hope they can come up a good solution. Like you, I would give it a try if they get it together & their idea of "affordable" racer is way... less than a 600 cc bike. Right now, I'm not seeing it.

I would be more intrigued to see them offer an affordable rolling chassis that is purpose built for road racing that you could put your 450 power plant into.

I stand corrected! I thought those were GP frames with thumper motors.

I guess if Sands did some testing with custom triples and a new rear link it could work out alright.

These guys fitted a YZF450 engine in an Aprilia RS250 chassis but again you're shoehorning an engine in using no real engineering from a handling aspect.
