When I get around to it, I'll do trend lines and such, but for now, this is a decent reflection of the condition of our local market.

We've not lost any dealers here, yet.

I found this data on our local department of revenue web site under public reports > dealer information.

Anything on your area?

Honda wanted dealers to go Tier 5 / Powerhouse Level 5 and to build "boutique" facilities - and the overheard would of sunk almost every dealer that bit on it.

I left a Honda dealership for that exact reason, the owner was being pressured into building a nice new facility, but I knew how tight things were already and there is no future in what I saw - so I bailed when the bailing was good, and left on good terms at the same time.

There was one dealership in Springfield Missouri, ProCycle, who built the model facility. And nice, oh man, it was NICE. Computer kiosks abound, video's playing on the walls, motorcycles and ATV's, anything and everything there on display with lots of people wanting and willing to help - intially, that is.

Costs, the costs were high, to say the least. And those costs have to be passed on, they went belly up a long time ago and even though they had other issues, I truly believe that investment was a major contributor to their failure.
