I caught the new bike bug, ever since someone posted that pic of the FZ-09 and since them I've been thinking of getting another bike....except brand new. Been looking around a lot and this thing is supposed to be coming here next year I think.

I really like it, even though its smaller.

Opinions?

That looks like it would be a lot of hooligan fun!

I was on the KTM Canada site the other day, dreaming of the RC8 I will never own. I've always liked the Superduke and I was bummed to see you can't even get the Superduke up here, just the 690 one.

That would be nice.

I am itching to try out a more sporty bike, but i keep coming back to naked and more upright riding positioned bikes. I feel like i would really enjoy riding that 390, or even the 690 which is already available here.

1290 is ridiculous.

That thing is a beast! I hope they come out with that, and then I come into some money, then watch my license disappear.

I like the look of the 390, but if it was me I'd go with the Super Duke. Save some money for maintenance.

apart from branding, how is this different to say, a drz400

Maintainence and reliability are equal to a boring Jap bike.

If you've never ridden a KTM, it's hard to describe why they're more enjoyable than a run of the mill aisian bike. For the Super Duke, it's very light, narrow, and responsive. If feels, handles runs, and sounds great. They don't look like anything else.

I'd take that 390 before a would take that overpowering 1200. The 390 would be so much more fun on the curvy back roads around here.

Oh man.....give me that 1200!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure I would never be able to use all the power, but knowing I had it gives me the best trouser wookie I could expect at this moment!

Just as an FYI... The 390 Duke is not manufactured in Austria.

"The new 390 Duke is manufactured in India in a joint venture with Bajaj, where smaller displacement Dukes are also built (including a 125 and a 200)."

Not that this makes much difference and after all it would make the bike more affordable.

I was beginning to think i was mistaken about it coming here, but it was reiterated in that article as well.

"Scheduled to arrive in the U.S. next model year, the 390 Duke was introduced to the press in Austria a couple of weeks ago and we were invited to participate. The Austrian Alps offer some beautiful roads, but we were confronted with foul weather, including both rain and snow. Nevertheless, we got a good sense of the character of this new machine."

We'll see if I'm disappointed sometime in the future. But if I have a garage in 1-2 years, I think I will be getting this bike, or a Brammo Empulse R.

I wouldn't go that far... Buddies smc690 has had problems with fitment and sealing of the tank since day one, is regurally popping out of gears, fork seals replaced twice, a hole in the radiator due to bad manufacturing... In less than 20k miles.... Other friend with a super duke r had two stators and two reg recs replaced due to the bike leaving him stranded as the batt wasn't being charged... Replaced under warranty within the first 6k... Took 2 months to get parts each time.

Rode a 990 Tuesday night and that was a beast. With just a little twist of the wrist she stood the front end up or slid the rear out. The power hit like the old two strokes its SCARY!!!
I can't imagine 1290cc's that thing is going to hurt people...
