I finally decided on a bike for me.

I've been mulling over a "make me feel better about myself and maybe occasionally have a good time too" purchase for yours truly.

My original criteria were as follows:
1. Comfy.....pegs not buried in a negative position
2. Fun to ride.....aren't they all? You guys know what I mean.
3. Okay for 2UP
4. Old school
5. Cherry
6. Relatively low budget (meaning well under 5K, preferably under 4K)

More recently I added

7. Fast...with a touch of "swoopiness"

First I thought about a nice mid 90's Jap cruiser.....Shadow ACE or Vulcan or V-star......but naahhh. Not there yet. Not lame, but kinda tame.

I thought about maybe a V65 Magna or a V-Max.....I then thought about a ZX-10 (the old one fellas, had one back in the day and still think it's a waaaaay bitchin' bike) or maybe even a ZX-11 or a CBR1000F (or sweet Hurricane 1000). ....Hey what about a nice older VFR or did you know you can find really sweet old GS1000's and CB's and KZ' on e-bay and aaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhhhh.

I was all over the place. This is what I ultimately came up with.
1985 FJ 1100. 15K on the clock. Good Condition.
She's in Texas right now.....she'll be mine in a few weeks!!! Hooray for me!

Looks like she's been babied by a loving owner. Lots of life left in that one and will appreciate some good workouts. That thing is screaming to be ridden. Congrats!

NICE! I love those. I browse those from time to time when I get the shopping itch.

6.34 gallon tank, and a windscreen. I'd say you nailed it.

My favorite bike of the 80's era. Always wanted one. I think I still had an original Yamaha brochure of that bike and an old magazine or two until just recently.

One of mine, too.....

And it still had street cred up into the 90's......as far as power and speed are considered....until bikes like the ZX-10, FZR1000, and big Gixxer hit the street......

Like I said, comfort was important to me, an aging old man witha bum leg......

What an excelent find. It's gonna be pretty nice jammin' around on that beast. It really looks nice and like said b4, cherry!

How you gonna get it? I say jam down there in a Greyhound bus with your gear and enjoy an adventure back to your digs.

It could be better.....Surgery was a failure. I was told that my last option is a bone graft surgery that would require two years on crutches. No BS.

Needless to say, I have decided to live with the pain.......

and buy a new bike to make me feel better.

Decided on this one for whatever reason.....I've had a few Yammies in my day that were good to me.....

I'd like nothing more but wont have a moment to spare for the next several weeks......I'm having her shipped Forward Air. by the time she gets here I will be VERY ready to ride it.
