Headlight

I'm riding home last nite after working on dad's car, getting showered in bugs (don't know how you floridians put up w/ love bugs), watching my headlight now showing shadows on the ground thinking wouldn't it suck if bulb blew.
So, I'm curious if anyone has ever had headlight go out?

Unless they're already on, in which case, throw on the low beams.
Ever had a total light failure, no. Sounds really scary though.

Had an old KZ750B that I couldn't afford to replace the headlight on one time. Rode to work and all was fine till through some emergency we all had to work overtime. Walked out at 10PM and thought, boy is this going to be fun. Stuck to small side streets at low speed except for one canyon patch with about 5 miles of totally unlit twisties. Waited at the bottom until a car with decent lights went by and took off in pursuit. Very surreal to ride in pitch black, chasing a set of lights 30 feet in front of me. I am not sure if he realized I was back there, but if he did, he must have thought I was nuts and he was probably right. Made it one piece with no tickets.

The old days were fun, but thankfully I can afford a nice bike now, and don't put myself in those positions anymore.

As for bugs, we get these freakin clouds of gnats that just sit stationary and wait for you to ride through em. No biggee unless your face shield is up .
