HD Sportster shifter removal?

Anyone know how to get the end of the shift lever off on a 2007 HD Sportster? That rubber pecker won't budge off the shift arm and I don't want to take the whole thing off.

Any help would be appreciated. I want to get this done before I get the urge to go buy a leather cap and vest.

Yo Ragster, I know you probably have been able to fix the problem but just in case you couldn't... it appears that you are NOT supposed to be able to take the rubber thingy out like you normally would on a normal bike.

Holla if you need anything else, I got the parts diagram of that bad boy!

We were on a good derailment Daniel, why'd you have to go and bring us full circle back to the topic at hand? Shame on you, and in a thread Ragdoll started nonetheless.

Part 15 is all I need to remove. Looks like it's just threaded on there? It's so close to the engine case, I couldn't see how it was in there. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was spot welded on. I think that'll help.

I've tried twisting it off to no avail. I'll just keep trying.

That's why most Harley riders are big as King Kong. When they bought the bike,They were a nornal sized guy. Then they had to work on it.

I just need to get that thing off there for a friend of mine. She ordered new pegs n stuff and I'm helping out with putting the crap on. Has a shifter peg to match the foot pegs.

The foot pegs I put on, no joke, were about 7-8lbs.
