Harley layoffs

KC closed down for 14 weeks -

And they announced another 1000 layoffs.....

A guy up the street works for them, he got his walking papers several weeks ago.

Still working for them, he said they are ramping up production big time, to have plenty in the warehouses for the short term future.

2nd quarter profits fell 91%, ouch.

But, the stock did well with the announced lay offs

Sign of the times.

Maybe OBama could give us $10000 for each Honda more than 5 yrs old toward a new Harley.

Would you want to ride the.....

wait for it..............

goes with the naming thread earlier today..................

Obamacycle?

We can use that for Harleys purchased with said "Get that JapCrap off the roads" handout if he were to do that.

What kind of bike do you have? A brand new Harley Obamacycle!

Maybe they need to put more money in Buell and MV. Their sales have had a lot less drastic decline in the last year.

what they need to do is find a new dealer base for buell and mv that has nothing to do with harley...

i almost bought a buell here a couple of months ago but the reason i didnt is because of the attitude of the dealership...

the sales manager had a "take it or leave it" attitude that has since cost him his job...

the harley dealerships havenot clued in on the fact that they cannot make 5 grand gross profit on every bike they sell... they need to do more like the honda dealership where i worked and where i have bought my last 4 bikes.... they will take a "slim" deal to get a bike moved because they know...

if they give you a great deal on your bike you are going to tell everyone you meet how great they were to deal with...

but the harley places are so used to everyone coming in with a hardon for their product and the blind "i gotta have one please rape me" desire, that they cannot see that noone is coming in to buy....

the local dealership i referred to is being kept afloat by apparel sales....

the day i was there i showed up at noon... i left at closing (pissed off).. i was the only person that was there that day looking to buy a motorcycle.... i have a 700+ credit rating and mary has a 740+ credit rating... i can buy pretty much anything i want....

they started playing the "you need more downpayment" game... (which from my days as a salesman and a finance manager means that they want more gross profit..)

eagle mark (harley's bank) will suck you off to get you to buy right now... the problem being these dumb ass's don't want to sell you a 10 grand bike for 10 grand... they want 16 grand...
and people arent buying...

i kinda sorta hope they fail... and the next time they are rebuilt they decide to charge what they are worth...

and maybe put some technology from this century would be nice also...
