Depends on what you have in mind. Do you plan on going SM racing?

Don't plan on any SM racing but possibly some track days (if the boss will allow it). My dirt racing days are done....too many injuries

I say do the SM conversion but keep everything to return it to the dirt - best of both worlds. Although the suspension mods might keep that from being practical.

Yeah, not sure where I would start as to the suspension. I've already dumped a boat load of $$$ into a race-tech setup on it already.

Super Motard that beast. I am seriously digging some of the one-off customs that guys are doing to these bikes.

I may be the only one to vote this but I wouldn't motard anything that wouldn't be street legal. Unless you are doing a boatload of trackdays I don't see it worth it. I would like a street legal motard.

That was the intention of my vote. The one-offs that I see guys doing have the Acerbis front headlights, integrated turn signals, etc...

I was judging by what was shown in the first pic. If street legal then go for it.

Those were just pics I pulled off the net. If I go to do it I'll take step by step pics and post them up here.

I just thought, based on that pic, you wanted a non-street legal motard. Now, since it's clear you don't, do it to it.

Buddy in ATL has a Honda 650 that is a blast to ride. It's hard to beat someone through the mountains on one of those things. We took turns on it at Jennings and had a blast also.

I have Pocono right around the corner from me and figured it would be more fun to wad up the WR than the niner. Much cheaper to repair as well

That's why you do what Jet suggested, and keep all the dirt stuff for a changeout. The suspension might be a bit tricky, but any obstacle has a way around or through it. I am looking forward to Mexico as well.

not really never did a conversion myself but I'd imagine the dirt suspension setup is way too compliant for hard street riding. I'd try stiffening up the preload and compression (if they're even adjustable) and go run it on a track making small changes with each session. As it begins behaving the way you like then make smaller changes until something gets to the maximum of adjustment.

With the weight difference you might be just fine with the current suspension and just tweaking it.

The race-tech suspension seems to have infinitesimal adjustments so I may be ok. I'm guessing the only thing I may look into changing may be the fork springs. I already have the gold valve so I may just experiment with a little stiffer kg spring. I'm also thinking about maybe lowering the rear linkage. hmmmmm lotsa crap to ponder.

I'm still up in the air, gotta check scheduling and get it past the "boss"

If I wasn't gone 36 hours a day I would work on the WR when I got home. Time is a virtue that I just don't seem to have much of.
