Flicking

I watch them lean
into the apex
thrust against chicanes , bank
on that complex compound
that soft encouraging lip

eyes always fixed
on the lead point
of blind curves

exit

and roll on.

I've been told 5-7-5 is the basic math for a haiku. I dunno.

Basic rule of thumb yes, but not set in stone.

Sugs, Just try. If you screw up on a motorcycle, people get really hurt. No one gets hurt if you write a bad haiku. I've written mANY poems, most were bad. Nobody died. Have fun. M/C's lend a lot to the metaphore. Use the chain. Use compression/damping. Use a worn out tire. Anything.

Yo ! Admins ! I'd like to see this thread moved to gen streetbike please.

Why ? Glad you asked. I've seen some great potential from fellow 'twisters with regards to writing and I'd like to encourage this. We all know there is great art contained within the m/c realm and much of it is untapped. Also, aside from the m/c chicks thread, there is art in photographs of riders in action. Perhaps it could be a motorcycle art thread.

What say ye ?

Thanks for your time.

Rich

I second the motion on the floor. A Moto art thread is a great idea!

In an attempt to save digital space, I want to revive this thread and let it hopefully take flight as a moto-art thread, not limited to the following.

Inspired photographic pieces from a ride

m/c related poetry

post m/c related reading material

basically anything where art and the motorcycle/rider intersect.

lots of options, people. go find 'em !

Psssst. Brevity. get on that rewrite, brother.

Thread moved as requested.

Not following the rules, but I never do, so:

It’s almost time to get it on,
The asphalt ribbon at the crack of dawn.
Wind in the sails, a navigators dream,
To leave this place alone it seems.
A chat with friends is in the plan,
A road to ride upon this land.
With swiftest measure I do elope,
A safe return on which I hope.
The time is here, the key awaits,
The throttle beckons, I can’t be late..

HondaJim

Morning dew rests gently on the leaves
Something beckons, my mind harkens wayward dreams
Air so crisp my lungs burn
Muscles tense with longing anticipation
I now have no fears
For the first apex has my world behind me
