Craigslist finds today

Didn't get a chance to check out today's local bikes until tonight, see several that catch my eye...

I seem destined for a CB550 someday, they keep popping up and I keep seeing nice ones on the street: http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/756976123.html

I emailed the guy to see if he can send better pics, might be worth a ride to Bloomington this weekend (like I need an excuse).

I can even get a parts bike! http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/756819645.html

Two affordable BMW tourers: http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/756833527.html and http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/757788001.html

Classic Triumph: http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/757286884.html

Cheap old KTM dirt bike: http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/757012201.html

Nice SV1000S: http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/757206796.html

Oh no! FJR listed yesterday that I missed: http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/756585542.html

A dangerous night in Indianapolis!

Is there a way to search multiple areas at once? Every time I go to CraigsList to browse bikes, I have to separately browse different geographical zones (or whatever they're called).
i.e. Ebay allows me to search within x miles of my location.
Am I missing something or have they just not gotten there yet?

I have that same question.

It's better to have loved and lost than live with the psycho for life!

You can browse several Craigslist areas at once on www.crazedlist.org

You can't use it on Explorer, only works on Firefox browser and even then you have to change a couple of settings. Very cool though, can search by states, or by regions like Midwest, South, etc.

Yeah, that R1100RT is a funky machine, but cool funky huh?

That K1200RS is probably more my style though. Hmmm, an '00 K1200RS with 25k miles for $6300 or an '05 FJR with 10k miles for $8995?

Basically its part of Craigslist philosophy to only allow you to search in specific geographic areas(cities or counties). They feel it promotes community or something along that line. They actively pursue those third party sites that allow you to search a larger area(like crazedlist). There was another site I used to use and it was finally shut down because Craigslist kept threatening the guy. I don't get it.

Crazedlist.org does work great, it's just a bit of a hassle to get set up. I use it daily to search for cars and motorcycles, great to be able to search multiple cities and states all at once. Mozilla Firefox is a better browser anyway, so not a big deal to download it and switch from Explorer, then just follow the instructions on crazedlist to get the settings changed so it works correctly.

Now back to all those motorcycles I found last night, the CB550 guy responded that his bike sold in two hours so I can quite fantasizing about it. Now I have that K1200RS stuck in my head, that's a lot of motorcycle for $6000! The FRJ also seems to be a good price compared to others around the country, it's just that $6k sounds affordable while $9k seems extravagant.

Quick off topic question. How does Craigslist generate revenue?

Found this on their site:

Q: How does craigslist support its operations?
A: By charging below-market fees for job ads in 10 cities, and for brokered apartment listings in NYC.

Q: How much are job ads?
A: $25 in Chicago, NYC, LA, DC, Boston, Portland, Sacramento, Seattle, and San Diego, and $75 in SF.

Q: Why doesn't craigslist focus more on generating revenue?
A: We rely on local communities to suggest ways to make money without compromising craigslist.

Q: Is there a connection between craigslist and eBay?
A: eBay acquired 25% of the equity in craigslist from a former shareholder in august of 2004.

Which explains why they only want you to search one commmunity at a time I suppose.

I just sold my leathers on Craigslist, no account, no fees, nothing. Placed a ad with photos, within 48 hours I had a buyer. Thanks for the explination.

Somthing Ridge told me about is, if you go to google and seach for craigslist, google will pop up a search box for all of craigslist - sometimes its a bit cumbersome, but, its nice to search all of them at once.

I've bought and sold motorcycles, cars, parts, canoes, even hired employees from craigslist ads, I'm a believer! It's also my biggest time waster, well other than Wristtwisters of course.

My buddy just called me about that K1200RS BMW yesterday. He has to wait for his grad student loans. (putting them to good use eh.) It is pretty sick. I like the looks of it much more than the 1100

Yeah, the 1100 is classic cool, but a bit too funky for me, never been a fan of that boxer engine either. I've emailed the K1200RS guy and left him a voicemail, hopefully he'll get back with me and I can go check it out.

Hey in 30yr Honda didn't change the mirrors or signals on the 9er!
There is a lot to be said for the bench seat when riding 2up! I hope they make a comeback before my 9er wears out.

Yeah, it gets worse, did you read the description?

This bike is in creampuff condition and comes with extras as follows: handlebar risers, new rear tire (5 miles on it), no-cut frame sliders, stainless steel exhaust covers, topcase, three saddlebags, two soft saddlebag liners, tank insulating blanket installed, BMW-style electrical outlet on dash, Fenda Extenda extension on front fender, service manual. This is a beautiful clean fast bike, used to belong to the head mechanic at one of the dealerships so it has been perfectly maintained. Less than 10K miles.

I wonder if this one is a scam? It's priced a couple thousand under going rate and sounds like a brand new bike...

http://saginaw.craigslist.org/mcy/759138558.html

Found these FJRs in surrounding areas...

http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/mcy/754354903.html

http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/756996449.html

Both '06 priced around $11,000, that's why the '07 in Saginaw for $9500 seems like a scam to me
