I've gone the other way (U.S. to Canada) with a couple of bikes. Obviously, it's a totally different operation, depending on which way you are going.
My only piece of advice: cross all your Ts, dot all your Is, and find out all the details about border crossing BEFORE you show up at the border. The last time we tried to import a bike, it took us an extra 2 days of sitting around at the border because we tried to cross on a weekend, and there was someone at U.S. customs that we needed to see who was only available on weekdays. Ahh, bureaucracy.
