Advice for online sale?

Hey guys, I need help deciding if this is way too sketchy or not. I am selling my Honda 599 and have received some interest. These are the emails I received, minus any sensitive information. Let me know what you all think.

First email from buyer:

HELLO SELLER,
I WISH TO INFORM YOU THAT I AM REALLY INTERESTED TO BUY THE ABOVE ITEM.
PLEASE ET BACK TO ME THE BELOW INFORMATION:
CURRENT CONDITION OF THE ITEM
LAST PRICE, THEN THE REASON YOU DECIDE TO SELL THE ITEM .
PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO THAT WE CAN MAKE THE ARRANGEMENT FOR THE PAYMENT

BEST REGARDS.

from me:

Hi,
The current condition is good, the same condition I bought it in last year. I am the second owner of this great bike. The first owner decided she wanted to get into motorcycle riding, but realized it wasn't for her. The bike has minor scratches on each side of the engine, but they are not noticeable unless you are squatting down looking at them up close. It has been garage kept by both the previous owner and myself. The frame is untouched, engine runs perfectly, and it is a great bike to look at. My reason for selling is I need to free up some money and am not riding this bike enough to justify owning it. I can get pictures sent out on Sunday evening showing the minor scratches on the engine. Please get back to me with other questions if you have any.

Patrick

and the last message from buyer:

Thanks for the mail.
I will like to proceed with payment asap and will like to handle via
my company shipper when you must have gotten your cash at hand.I am
in no rush for pick up of the items till funds are clear at the
bank.My mode of payment will be via Bank Cashier Check drawn on US
Bank.I work with an auditing firm and will not have time to and see it
but i trust in your words and hope it in good condition.I will need
your name and address with valid phone number to send the check to
your address.Kindly delete the advert if my mode of payment is
accepted.I will await your email asap.

Does this sound right? Obviously I would wait until the check clears my bank and funds are in before shipping the bike. Anyone?

Little red flags are flying all over the place. I'm glad you came out to ask someone. I recently had a friend get screwed selling a scag mower online. He took the bait hook line and sinker. Ended up being somewhere around the neighborhood of $5,000 out of his own pocket due to shipping charges, ebay fees, and overdraft fees. Not to mention he obviously didn't have his mower anymore.

I'd pass on that seller!!!

I have received the exact same crap from various email accounts for every item I have posted in Craigslist in the past year. Don't even reply to an email t hat is worded similar to the ones you have. Complete scam and waste of your time.

I'll give you $150.00 for it. Trust me, it's more than you would get doing the other deal. Sorry to say, Scam. These tough days some sellers need a sale so bad, they often overlook scam details. These bastards prey on people.

If you have some extra time on your hands it is fun to bait these dirt bags until they are the ones who give up.

I'd be skeptical at best when dealing with someone who has poor grammar skills & types in all caps.

examples of this well documented scam tactic are everywhere online.

It is pure scam. The check / money order they send you will be bogus and you'll be out everything.

The company I work for has had a guy try a scam like that on us only he called on the phone. Wanted to buy four of our Honda generators, for his vilage in Kenya or someother African country. Told us that he would take care of the shipping and send the truck out to pick them up. We were thinking scam too but he gave us a credit card number and sure enough it went thru. But still we thought something doesn't smell right here. So we called the credit card company, that's when we found out how this scam works. It seems that they steal someones identity here in the states, apply for credit cards then use the numbers to buy as much stuff as they can and have it shipped overseas to them where the US can't get at them.

Yeah I have tried to lead these guys on for fun. I would try to see if can send you or wire some cash as a deposit. Then email him you cannot ship to Nigeria. Try scamming the scammer get the fookers address so we can drive by there and fire bomb the place.

Trust me, red flags have been flying. The line that kinda had me thinking that it may work was that I could put the money in my bank and have it verified before any shipping would take place. Thanks everyone, sometimes you get a little silly when trying to sell. I'll be patient, I'm sure it will sell.

That's pretty scary. Good to know though. I'll try to focus more locally in that case.

Seriously, not being an a$$. But, did you really think that was a "real" reply and interest in your bike?

It's better to have loved and lost than live with the psycho for life!

I don't shop or sell stuff online much, and haven't had bad experiences when I have. I wasn't sure, which is why I posted here for everyone's help. So thank you.
