Fence-sitters shouldn't look at those prices, unless they are really prepared to get off the fence. OTOH, the fine print says: plus Dealer fees....hmmmm....I wonder if 3000.00 setup fee is included?

One dealer had a 8499 price tag on one. I did not ask him about dealer fees.
The online link - I called a while ago. If I remember right D/F were
something like 800-1000.

so you are looking at 9850 OTD

Doesn’t That say "Daytona Price $7999*" Unless I am missing something the Daytona is a totally different bike.

We are being royally screwed over here Allan.

If you follow the trail, its a few guys importing the major brands into NZ and they effectively have a monopoly.

They brandied the exchange rate and other BS on the massive price hike about 2 years ago (across the bike industry) when the dollar was weak/dipped. Funny thing is, its done nothing but strengthen on average since 2008. Funny that we haven't seen an across the board downward adjustment that gels with our strong dollar, isn't it?

Take US$0.77 = NZ$1 as an average, then you get approx NZ$10.3K for this bike.

I just dont buy that shipping cost (remember no import duty on vehicles in NZ) and our smaller market alone ads an approximate 100% to the bike's cost compared to the States.

Bikes aren't really moving very well these days. I bet they are open for negotiation. Play the dealers against each other.

I used to have a 955 Daytona, I surely wouldn't mind having another or a Speed Triple, the engines sound great at about 10,000 rpm.
60,000 trouble free miles. Only broke a clutch cable at about 55,000 miles, had to make one of my XR600 fit it, since they wanted $50 and 3-4 weeks to get it.

And I don't know why part of this post is bold and part of it ain't.

Because you think its important.

I really do like the speed triple, but would you buy one over a new cb1000r?

Nah, I didn't do the bold thing on purpose, it just went that way. As for the CBR1000RR question, depends on what you want. I've had the 170 mph bikes. I tend to go way too fast when I'm riding those. You know, you are just putting around, and you look down and you are doing 145. I could have bought one for what I paid for my Ducati, but I wanted something different. Same with my old Daytona. I could have bought a Japanese Supersport, but I wanted something different, and I'm glad I did, it was a fun ride, sounded neat, had a real different personality to it, and like I said earlier, I'd buy another. Depends on what kind of ride you want at the time.

Depends ................

Both great bikes.

There is a new 2011 Speed being released - maybe that is why the 2010's are being discounted.

I talked to the guys in Daytona prior to buying my bike. It would have been about $9200 for me shipped from them. I wound up buying mine for just a bit more than that from the "local" dealer in Chattanooga when they brought it down for the Vintage Motorcycle races at Barber.

It depends on the dealer, I think smaller dealerships are reluctant to discount the bikes much. If you are a veteran make sure you ask for the Triumph Hero discount, I got $350 off my bike with my DD-214.

I think your right on the money, when I owned my fz1 I found myself always going faster than I thought I was going.

And I wasent talking about a CBR1000R I was talking about the CB1000R

I have bought from Daytona BMW before......

I am comfortable in saying they are prone to telling some lies.
I am also comfortable saying they will misrepresent their product.
