I'll take the ZX-10R please.

They must have gotten tired of Ghostrider just walking away from their Volvo police cars.

but can you imagine working/riding it all day long? Ouch. It would be a good bike on which one breaks-in new recruits.

here guys, say hi to your employer for me, this will cost him 20 min of your work time :001_smile:

Wouldn't want to try running from that guy.
Also interesting to see that a lot of the European police wear a full face helmet and leather (it must not get as hot there).

I find riding a 600RR isn't too bad for about 300 miles in a day. My wrists got a little sore, but nothing that would not be remedied by my lazy butt riding a little more often. I figure a liter bike will have just a tad more room.

It might be a good recruitment tool to draw 'em in.
I know if I were on the fence about being a motorcycle cop, the enticement of a sweet ride like that would probably be the factor to win me over... comfort, shmumfort

Maybe he's the guy on standby in the back of a truck somewhere.
When the highway patrol needs assistance he just rolls out the trailer like NightRider & chases down the bad guys

I'd love to see someone with some skill actually chase Ghostrider. Now that would be a great thing to watch.

actually here in Tucson, specifically Oro Valley the moto cops run around in full face and full gear. They also ride Bmw R1150-rt, its a nice bike, and they get to take them home.

Ghost Rider

AKA: Mika
AKA: Mika Ghostrider
AKA: Patrik Fürstenhoff

Who knows. Really...who cares? It wouldn't surprise me at all if he was a racer who just gets bored. Heck, look at the crap Travis Pastrana does in his spare time. This guy just doesn't care about it being legal or not.

The fake arrest video...

Police Arrests Ghostrider

...and the German translation from someone on the gixxer.com forums.

This biker doesn't really care that he puts his own and other motorists' lives at risk with his 500HP machine. We meet up with Ghostrider, who makes millions with the sale of his recorded chases, at the Repabahn (?) in Hamburg. He calls himself Mika...'

Mika: "The police cannot catch me, because i'm simply too fast. It doesn't matter which route I take: I know every area by heart and have studied each and every route extensively. Despite everything the police have tried already, I cannot be caught."

Presenter: 'The daredevil is in violation of just about every traffic law and doesn't even have a driving licence. Swedish police have been after him for years, but nobody knows what he looks like in real life, and nobody can stop this biker.Germany is a new challenge for him...'

Mika: "That's why we come here: so people who see our films can say: Hey, I've been there too!"

Presenter: ' In Germany, Mika mainly races the Autobahn: he wants to take advantage of the non existing speed limits for his questionable movies...'

Mika: "What's so special about Germany is one can legally ride at top speeds: You're allowed to ride on the Autobahn at 300 Km/h (190 Mph). You just have to be a bit careful... But what it is we do exactly here in Germany, is a secret... "

Presenter: 'Without a driving licence and a licence plate, Ghostrider is in violation of the law in this country as well. Mika takes this risk very consciously, because he claims not to be afraid.'

Reporter: "How close do you let the police get...? "

Mika:"Usually about 5 metres, like this (points to the popo passing behind)"

Presenter: 'Alerted by our filming, the Hamburg police gets involved (cops ask for identity card)'

Mika: "I have my travell pass in my car on the other end of the road. I'll push the bike over there if I may. If you like, you can follow me...No problem."

Presenter: 'Mika can't help but chuckle. The Hamburg police officers do not know who they're dealing with and therefore want to take down his personal details. They haven't caught him riding the bike, just sitting on it, which is not an offence... The officers just target the missing licence plate, and the bike also doesn't have a VIN -number: It's a custom bike, a 500 hp one-off, even the officers seem impressed...' (The guy with Mika asks if they can load up the bike, one of the officers says it has to be photogaphed first. The officer then says that he wouldn't mind going for a spin on that bike.

Mika's answer: "But you can't, I don't have a license plate on it...") The police can't touch Mika, so they are shown the second € 50000 bike in the van. One of the officers admires it, but they cannot charge him with anything, because he was not riding the bike in traffic at the time.

Reporter: "Did he get any tickets?"

Officer Kaehne: "No, he didn't. I'll just write up a report and send it to the relevant authorities. We will take it from there... "

Presenter: "The officers have taken down Mika's details, but he didn't get any tickets. Only when the death defying daredevil is caught redhanded, can he be taken off the streets. Mika intends to continue speeding, in disregard of other people, because he sells his DVD's worldwide and makes a hefty profit from it... "

Family friend of mine was the Chief of Police. Said everyone always wanted cycle duty as they all thought it would be so cool. All the older cops would play it up to make it sound like something special.

After a few days nobody wanted it anymore and they had to try and sucker someone else into doing it.

Sitting on a bike in full dress under the sun, vs sitting in an A/C car, etc.
