what's up with red in the tires

this is probably a dumb question, but I'm looking at a vstrom on craigslist and in the photo there looks to be red behind the tread in the tires. I've never seen it before and I wonder if it's something bad.

The bike was probably used in a mass attack against the human race. Like in the movie Death Race!

I'm thinking paint or dirt picked off the road, but not certain ... just a guess.

Looks like some old-fashioned red mud stuck between the treads to me. Nothing more.

It's there so that you can look as if you ran over a small animal when sliding the rear tire. It really messes with PETA members

After a tire has been used for a terrorist attack it's marked so people know it's involvement.

No, the red and green lines on tires are from the factory, used for balancing and checking quality control of the tires before they leave the plant.
