Took DRZ out this morning for the first time

DRZ400SM - what a blast !!!!. Plenty of power throughout the whole rpm range and all 5 gears until you reach 75-80mph and it gets to that speed in no time. Can cruse at 50-75mph all day long. It really shows itself in tight turns thought, amazing bike. I need to note that she isn't fully stock: 39 FCR MX carb in full Yoshi exhaust.
The whole ride I had a feeling like I was doing something illegal, like this thing doesn't belong on the public road.

I's a keeper

And if you get bored of it? Go to motostano.com and type DRZ big bore.

Kevin Swantz decided to race the DRZ, so got with Suzuki and Yosh to create some 'works' goodies that are now available to the public.

Here's the link if you haven't ever seen this kit....can you say..... bad a$$?

Yoshimura Suzuki DRZ400 Big Bore Kit
1500 bucks for 50 more cc's.... might as well just grab a KTM 525 or a 690SMC and call it a day.

The DRZ with a rejetted or bigger carb, opened up airbox, and a pipe (or opened up stock pipe) makes for one hell of a fun bike. I get to ride my buddies every so often and its hard for me not to buy one... i already have my 919 and its awesome but theres something bout the SM's that just scream hooligan fun!

I was out the other weekend and there was a group of guys that somehow got CRF450R's street legal (whether they were actually street legal or not is up for debate) but O man they were having one HELL of a time. I would buy a DRZ400.... if they werent priced more used than i bought my 919.... which is sad.

keep your eyes open, they aren't priced as bad as you think, especially now - at the end of the season
06-07 with under 5k miles can be found for $3300-3700. I picked up mine even cheaper and PO already had $1100 in it between carb and exhaust, I'm not even counting new tires and other stuff

here in my area of CA, your looking at about 4k minimum for a used drz400sm thats worth buying (they are quite popular)... and at that price its hard for me right now to buy it given that i already have my 919.
