This might be a dumb question

What power commander do i buy for my gsx-r 600? There is the road kind and the "race only." Which one would be better and which one should I buy? I do not use it as a track bike.

And does it matter if I were to pick up a used one from a different type of motorcycle? I have never done anything with a computer before.

Please don't bash me for my ignorance!

You answered one of your own questions - no track use - get a road one!

Not a stupid question - best to ask than F it up!

It will need to be bike specific as different brands have different connectors.

Basically you want a Power Commander (brand name, others are available under different names) for your year and specific bike.

If you pop onto DennisKirk.com - Motorcycle, Harley-Davidson, ATV, Dirt Bike, Snowmobile, PWC / Watercraft Parts, Apparel, and Accessories or similar and pop in your bikes details they will stock one and you'll get a idea of price. Contact LDH on this site for a good deal.

Then you'll need a map for your bike - if you have zero confidence I'd be inclined to pay for one to be made for your ride.

Also log onto a GSXR specif site and see what they are saying - why do you want it, what have you changed etc?

It has an aftermarket exhaust, and it feels like it bogs in first gear when taking off.

buy one specific for your bike so you know the connections to the ECU are right.

as for road vs off road? i got the off road one just in case. I know in my state of Taxachusettes they do no look for PC during inspections, but from what i hear, cali does.

I would pm LDH or someone who would actually know the difference between the 2.
