"Superbikes" got it right?

I was tooling around on youtube, and found this video. Anyone seen this episode?

I admit, I have little use for this show or the whole idea of stunting, but the leaders of these different groups of riders seem to have their heads on straight. They talk about safety classes, making sure everyone is licensed, and designating spots and times for stunting. As much as I can't stand stunting, at least it looks like they are moving in the right direction by getting it off the street and into an area made for it, like it should be.

The one thing I noticed is many of the riders are at least in the right gear. Nothing like Colorado, where the cool thing is to ride around on your sportbike with your helmet hanging from the pillion seat.

The show seems to be trying to do better and promote safety and right spot. I saw or heard a quote from a stunter I agreed with.

"Dragging knee is only for the track and stunting is only for the blocked lots."

He was pointing out lots of sportbike riders haul a$$ & drag knee where they shouldn't yet get on guys who wheelie. Each is just as bad.

i watched 2 shows on wens night,1st show was with ricky gadson on drag racing, extreamly safty orientated. the 2nd saow was with sherrifs dept in so cal and CHiPs,both shows were geared towards the right time and place for racing, riding, stuntin etc. Jason britton is coming to Philly soon,i might actually go check out his show, cause lets face it,proper stuntin, racing, pretty much anything extraordernary to do with wheels an a motor is facinating to watch as long as its done in a controlled envirnment. thats just my opionion.

saw them at VIR and they are skilled at what they do and it was interesting but nothing like Matt and Ben slipping and sliding around those corners!!! So that said as long as they keep preaching do in a closed lot I guess it's ok but most still will do it on the street.

i still think it's odd that the CHiPs and others still ride around in short sleeves and slacks...

the reason they are on a safety kick isnt out of the goodness of thier hearts - you may rember thier first episode, where Jason was pulling stoppies and wheelies down a main street in DC. Honda nad Dublop both pulled thier advertising bucks from thier show untill they straightned up thier act - Now that its all safety oriented , the money is coming back in, so, they had some pretty big reasons tp promote safety .

The above info come to me from a person that works at and with speed - he told me that he was in a meeting and both the Honda Pr and Dunlop PR guys were in an uproar about thier products being shown in an "irresposible manner " and corrective actions were to be taken ASAP or thier cash is gone - and it was gone for the first part of the first season -

1st - I actually met Jason a number of times, and he is a pretty cool guy. I am still a little iffy about the show, but I am happier with the direction they are taking. I know A LOT of the guys they rode with - especially the guys from Cocky Riders. I guess riding for some is still a form of youthful rebellion, but it is nice to see people taking safety and social / enviromental impact into consideration.

2nd - I used to ride with a few CHP and Sherriffs moto division officers, and I asked the same question. There feeling is that the training keeps them safe enough to not neccesarily need that much protection. However, that said, they have come to the realization that an accident is just that - an accident and officers get hurt bad when it happens. To that end, there is a major manufacturer working with the Sherriff's and other LE organizations to create a new suit for officers. It will be a VERY interesting thing to see, that is all I can say about it for now.
