Stopped at a light

If you came upon a fellow biker (who's a stranger) at a light, what would you do? Assume it's in his lane:

a) Pull right up next to him, and try to start a conversation,
b) Stay back and opposite of him a "respectful" distance behind. Then, maybe not welcomed?, slowly pull up and start conversation.
c) Stay back and opposite of him a "respectful" distance behind. Then, if welcomed, slowly pull up and start conversation.
d) Stay back and opposite a "respectful" distance behind, and stay there.

EDIT: I HAD TO CHANGE THE ORDER A LITTLE BIT IN THE ACTUAL POLL ITSELF!

D, or C if he really gave a "come on up and chat" signal of some sort.

D.

That'd be like initiating a conversation with someone because they drive the same car as me. ...I have enough random people coming up to me to talk about cars seemingly just because they see me driving a car to know it's annoying.

When a guy on a sportbike comes up to me the conversation goes like this.

(this is what it would look like if typed on a screen): Hey mayn, sweet bike dood. How fast does it go loool!1. I bet u kan due reely long wheelys with it huh? sweet dude. lol!!1twelve1!1

No thanks.

Yeah, sorry about that. When I started to write up the poll, I was limited in the amount of text, so I had to change the order so I could write the "Same as..." format.

Just be careful to Read the Poll before clicking.

What is the protocol for being welcomed? Would they pat their foot and run their fingers under the tank...just wondering since I live near DC.

I once came up to Turn_1 and his brother at a light, tried to kill his brothers bike as I coasted by, ended up dropping my bike down on Turn_1's leg/bike.

I'm cool.

Wow. This turned into a poll haha. I can see how the originator likes his "respectful" space.

I really would:

Pull up and over on the side,

Back my rear tire up to just about his engine case or fairing,

Lite em up and smoke em until flaming hot pieces of rubber just plaster the dude's motor or fairing and smoke turns the intersection into London Fog,

Roll out right or left and courtesy wave with the international piece sign (not same as wimpy hippie peace sign)

Oh, I forgot, I can only do this on my ZX10R. If I was on my KLR, I'd probably get it done to me.

Generically speaking...
1) If it's a straight intersection, only one lane, & he is to either side of center. I'll pull up next to him,Nod & leave.(granted, if I get the open side)

2) If he is in the middle of the lane, I'll wait behind him to one side.

3) If it is in a left turn lane. I'll wait behind him.

4) If I split lanes to the front of the pack & a rider is in the lane(centered), in front of the cars,I'll stay there between the cars. I'll then leave to the lane next to his.(if there is one) if not, then drop in behind him & wait for a place to pass.

5)If it's open multiple lanes, I'll just use the lane next to him.

I guess I just have to remember that there are still some paranoid riders still out there.
But, if someone pulling up near them freaks them out.
They probably won't last long on a bike anyway.
Here in California. Riders wave, they are friendly, & we all look out for each other.
I have even had other riders make room for me in there lane when I pull up.
As I have done for them.
We are all out to accomplish the same thing. "Live to ride another day"
Not to get all pissy at each other.

Stay back, not many men like to talk to a woman on a R1 especially if they have a 600cc bike.

Too often we lose sight of life's simple pleasures.
Remember when someone annoys you, that it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown ...
But it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and bitch-slap that mother- upside the head...

Pass it on.

I call B.S. because you'd probably use the excuse of getting stung by a bee and not get to the burn out!!!

Back to the poll. I've done the pull up and hello nod. I've also done the stay behind and respect the distance. All depends on my mood and the bike I'm riding.

I've been tempted to pull up and smack the back of few idiots helmets a few times also!
