Reproduction windscreens -any interest?

Would there be any interest in reproduction windscreens? Not the brackets, just the plexiglas part. I'm taking my Euro-sourced Honda windscreen down to a local plexi screen maker - it's the rose-tint version and I want it in a darker shade. I figure if there's enough interest, he might make a pattern and have it available for future customers instead of just making a one-off.

So, anyone interested?

Depending on $$ I may be interested in a very dark smoke screen.

I agree with rmb. Depending on the $$ I'd be interested in a black one.

I'm interested, but I'd have to find some brackets. Any chance you could give me some information on your brackets, so I can have my cousin fabricate a couple for me (and anyone else who would need some)?

Just FYI - https://www.wristtwisters.com/f94/919...ing-19307.html

If you want it totally black, just spray the back side black. That will leave the front a nice glossy black.

Not available anymore.

A screen without the correct brackets is IMO worthless.

Right - we discovered the 599 windscreen is identical, but the brackets are not.

The brackets are the harder to come by part.

I've got an OEM windscreen with all the hardware... but I'm a little leery about painting the OEM screen especially since everyone wants an unpainted one if I decide to sell it.

But depending on the cost, I'd be interested.

I agree the stock 'rose' colour is gay. WTF Honda - you advertise it as a quote 'stripped down naked' and 'sharp, powerful' etc then make a rose coloured screen!

No, but I'd be willing to lend them out for duplication. They're not too hard, just a couple of pieces of plate and some round rod.

All of you who are interested - what would you be willing to pay for a replacement plexi screen (again, just the screen, since I can't replicate the brackets)? The screen could be available in the dark bronze/smoke of the old Nighthawk 700S (my favorite, of course), black, and a very dark smoke.

Assuming the quality was OEM, a "buddy" deal would be ~$50 for the screen and another $25 for the hardware.

Maybe if there was enough interest it might get that low on the shield. I won't be the one setting the price, though - that's up to the shop making it/them, so Bill's Plastics of Dallas.

Should should ask about a price breakdown. If you were able to make enough windscreens (of OEM quality) and were able to fabricate some decent brackets, I'm sure they would go quickly.

It seems like everyone is looking for an OEM windscreen.

Yes, and I am lucky enough to have some factory brackets. I just need the screen.

Before you lend them to me, could you just send me some pictures of them next to a ruler to get the general size and idea of what will be made. Then I'll get a quote from my cousin. If the quote is reasonable, then I'd probably want you to send them my way so I can create accurate drawings and then send them his way for reproduction.

Pricing

For just piece of plastic anything more than $50 starts seeming steep to me, anything less starts seeming pretty attractive, FWIW.

Can plexiglass be used? I always thought wind screens were made out of lexan or something similar

Windscreens have been made out of plexi, polycarbonate and acrylic over the years. Lots of times it's all referred to as plexiglass as a generic, even if it isn't.

$75 for the whole kit and caboodle sounds attractive. The windscreen w/o the brackets doesn't make much sense.

I may not have a lot to say but it doesn't mean I don't listen.

If we can get OEM copies of the screen and hardware, depending on price, i might be onboard.

Looks like the screen is going to cost $75 to make. Might have a line on bracket fab, looking at about $35 a set for those. All in all, with hardware it's probably going to be close to Honda's original $120 or so out the door.

This is what we can get locally for about $55 (plus shipping). It comes with a thin metal mount/bracket that slips in between the headlight bracket and the headlight itself. The brackets aren't finished too well but it's largely unseen once mounted. If there's a group interested, I can source and send a few down to one person there and it can be shipped locally from the recipient.

You get what you pay for. This is a local knock off of the Givi. The Givi would obviously be better, but these aren't bad for the money. Not sure if you can get 'em cheaper on ebay, just sayin' they're available at a nearby shop and I can do you guys the favor of shipping over a few if there's interest.
