Radar Detector/Motorcycle

After reading Arctic's thread about the trick new Passport, I started thinking about the two $250 I got back to back last month How many of you use a radar detector on your bikes? Please post a picture of the set-up if you do. I could have avoided both of these particular driving awards with even a crappy detector. My wife is still bitchin'.

I've had a couple other radar detectors before....even tried a couple bike versions. Everything else was total crap.

By a LONG shot, the Passport Escorts are the best out there. First off....they have a long detection range (I usually get 1/2 - 1 mile warning w/ my 9500I on the highway) --- second, the new ones are designed to eliminate false detections......(if you're detector is super sensitive, but going off all the time you start to ignore it after a while)

I'm currently running the PassPort Escort 9500I......... paid $400 2 years ago for it..... was looking on e-bay and they can be had in the $300 range now..... RAM mounts makes motorcycle mounts for them, and you can pick up a hard-wire power cable for them. The 9500i has a stereo mini jack to hear the audio in your helmet.

lastly though ------- if you ride normal (like 5-10 over), and use your normal common sense, AND then also use the Passport..... it will be 100% effective. Even with instant on Radar, if you're in traffic you'll see them hitting other cars with the instant on a mile away......its pretty obvious. In the 2 years since I bought the Passport.....I've only been hit by Laser 1x.

If you hit the left lane and speed......and expect it to work..... you're screwed.
