Pigs can fly!

An Aussie copper riding a new unmarked pursuit vehicle, a Suzuki Hayabusa. Apparently the police have removed the 300kph speed limiter. It's covered in camera's and radar. Can detect your speed from a km away and can catch almost everything. Yay!

Kinda surprised they picked that bike. I was under the impression that it wasn't a great handling bike, but also the comfort issue. I thought they had good results with the BMW and other bikes they use now.

IDK what value the extra speed, quickness would have, it's not like we need more highspeed chases.

I don't think I'd want to be tapped out at top end on that thing with the rear top box on, especially if it's got some heavy stuff in it.

They also are using unmarked BMW 1200, a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R and maybe a Yamaha FJR 1300. They use these bike to blend in. Notice the lack of high vis. They film traffic offences. They also use them at motorcycle and car events where they maintain a presence, and carry out public safety talks.

We have locals using BMW and others, but I've never seen a cop on a sport bike. I haven't actually checked, but it would seem strange for them to be on an actual sport bike.

I doubt I'll ever see one on a sport bike either. They are on mostly BMWs in Tassie. That particular sport patrol bike and a few others are in the state of Queensland. Probably more of a public relations thing. Lookin cool and all that. Big presence at public events. Lots of motor shows in Queensland. Although being all stealthy and quick like, I'll bet it payed for itself with revenue generated through traffic offence fines. Speeding, mobile phone use and other infringements come with big dollar fines. And that particular sergeant on the hyabusa said people don't even see him come up behind them. People in cars often don't notice quick dark bikes especially if the rider is a sneaky bastard!

It's also definitely marketing-based - gets folks like us talking about it

2002 Honda 919
1999 DR650
1998 GS500 - sold
2014 Ninja 300 - sold
