See... you get a good thing & the butt heads screw it up!
That road is just too much fun!
We as motor enthusiasts have to respect that road. Unfortunately all the Ricky Racer kids have to abuse it, day & night.
Not to mention people riding & driving over their heads!
Then when someone like Lucia (God bless her) has an accident, all hell breaks loose.
I highly doubt she was crank'n a turn at 60mph up there. Most likely the truck did a left turn on her!
Typical!
Well... I'm gonna put more laps up there until they groove the lanes.

In Lucia's name... "Lets Ride!"

Personally I don't know why people flock to these roads like Palomar and the Gap. I'd avoid them like the plague. Great places if you are going to be "seen", but if you just want to ride, no thanks, I'll find a back road with no traffic. Last thing I want when I do some spirited riding is to have anyone but a couple of friends around me... or maybe just one friend with a cell phone.

Bottom line is, if you want to go fast, to test your skill, do it on a track. Yeah, you'll get passed by people, yeah you'll be nothing special when you are there. But you'll learn more about yourself and your bike than you will on any public road in the world.

I didn't see anything about her going 60mph. She was 60 years old.

I can't wait until I'm 100 years old so I can 100 mph.
Some states have strange laws.

What a shame. This does sound like the truck may have been turning and her crossing the lines may have been her trying to avoid said truck.

The same thing happened to the Angeles Crest Highway. It was a like a back road that few knew or only experienced riders in groups rode. When I used to ride it, we would ride up on Saturday mornings, most if not all of us looking like Ninja Turtles in riding suits, etc. Well... of course it became popular and the tally of casualties started climbing... so... welcome the CHP and Officer Stout to the Highway.

It is shame when you read about all thes casualties. But.. God bless her for still riding at 60. I hope I can do the same. RIP all fallen riders.

There wasn't. I was stating that she was probably just riding normally, not "Racing" the corners.
If you knew the road, doing 60 mph in those turns is way advanced fast!

I just want to say that 60 isn't that old!
I'll be 60 in just 12 years and can't imagine not doing all the things I do now.
I hope to ride well into my 70's & 80's. Feets Minert is 76 and he still races R.E.M. Motocross every saturday at Glenn helen.
That being said, I hate to hear about any motorcyclist getting hurt or killed, even the ones that are asking for it by the way they ride.

In our vintage road race club we have easily a couple dozen guys in their mid 60's still racing, and still winning against guys half their age. We even have some guys in the 70's still racing.
I personally know numerous ex pro racers from the 1960's, that are now 60+ years old and can beat about 98% of the typical turnout at a track day.
Most guys don't seem to slow down much till they hit their 70's.

Well it's interesting that they are taking the approach of punishing everyone because of a view law breakers (the minority).

If the people want something done it takes the majority, and a damn good fight in most cases, to get it done. If the gov wants to do something, like control us, it only takes a small minority, or none at all, to get something done. is it just me or do you find this troubling too?
