new Z 900

My friend just bought the new old school Kawa Z 900. I put about 10 miles on it while he was on my 07 919.
Softest clutch lever ever,Butter smooth shifting.Fuel mapping spot on, i could ride over speed bumps without using the clutch at less than 5 mph and pull away without the slightest hiccup. Seat height higher than my 919. I am 6 ft tall and can flat foot most bikes. But this one is close to tip toeing at a stop.A short rider would have a problem.
Vary, very smooth engine. Healthy sound from the intake and muffler combo. I like all the visible details. turn signals, mirrors, wheels, seat etc. It felt larger and heaver riding it even though both bikes are within a few pounds of each other.
Is it better than my 919 ? probably but i was happy to get back on my 919 and do not envy him at all.I love the looks of the 919 like the idea of having something you do not see all the time.
Nether of us a canyon carvers so i have no opinion on handling. At a future date we will do a few roll on drag races to see who is faster. I think the 919 will beat it My 919cis totally stock.

Z 900

He likes it, says nice things about it. I think my 919 inspired him to get the Z 900 being that they both are naked sit up sport bikes.
He also has a new GSX 1000 & a new generation V MAX. He tends to sell and buy a lot of motorcycles. I tried to interest him in a CB 1100 but he was not interested.
I am happy with a bike that does everything i want in a motorcycle at less than 1/2 the cost of a newer bike.

I'm going to buy one of those Z900s. In about 3 years, I'll find a nice used one, that someone has done a few tasteful mods to. I've gotten too cheap to buy new motorcycles.

I went for a test ride on the Z900RS, it wasn't any great improvement on the 919. IMO.

Not a whole lot different actually, and I was just as happy to get back on the 919, although it does look great.

Also took out the new Honda 1000R, it was nice, felt very light compared to the 919, and much better suspension.
Front wheel came up very easily just hitting it in 2nd.

If and when I replace my CB900-Hornet it will most likely be with a new CB1000R.

I'm with you.
Wanting one that is.
I like your plan.
If/when I get mine, I'll be wanting to retrofit Z900 triples in order to get a bunch more trail re still hoped for new track re track day use.

I like the dark grey. My Jeep Wrangler is a color very very similar. Jeep called it Crystal Granite. Love the little fairing. You can have all the farkles. Not into " look at me".

The color is great.
I noticed it's got this little guard in front of the front brake. I've not seen one before, assuming it's so the brake isn't accidentally activated?

It'd be a CB1000R for me, with all the upgrades and in red.

It's a brake lever guard, and you nailed the purpose. They're very common in racing and actually mandatory in many race organizations.

The previous one much more so, but two tone regardless.
IF I had the coin, I'd likely buy one as an additional forever keeper.
Already have some mods scoped out...
Ah well, I can at least fantasize.

He's got a bit of cred.

"He holds the distinction of being the only person to have won the Daytona 200, the Imola 200, the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race, and the Isle of Man TT."
