My new years resolution
I actually made it several months ago, today I'm one step closer. No, I'm not quitting smoking, giving up red meat, or getting in shape. My resolution is to punish as much dirt as possible in 2011. My weapon of choice is this 2000 CR250R. I am the 3rd owner, and picked it up with 10 hours on it!
Never mind the mess in front of the garage, and the ghetto chain on the door. I assure you they will be fixed, just as soon as I'm done riding.

One of the best things you can do for your street riding skills. Congrats and Happy 2011.

Hell yea. Now that iss a good resolution.
Me and a few friends are planning to go to Moab this spring. My 450x has been neglected the past 2 years. I'm hoping this trip will make it feel loved again.

Yea. Lets see some more pics of this awsome bike. I hope you shamed the previous oner into selling it to you. 10 hrs is crazy.
I bet there are some jelouse people that you basically a brand new bike that cannot be purchased anymore. Lots of folks hate the new thumpers. Begging for the two strokes to come back.
I've been to moab twice. Once it was purely a mtb trip. The 2nd was on the 919 with mtb in tow. Theres a trip reports somehwere in here. This 3rd trip will be the 450x and of coarse mtb again. It will be a great way to ring in the begining of the riding season.

While she may be "new" she is 10 years old. A few bits and pieces have dried and cracked but nothing that is a show stopper. First order of business will be rebuilding the back shock. It's showing oil on the rod and the stopper is split wide open. There's a bit of rush showing on the front axle, but nothing that concerns me. I'll probably tear into the front (while the rear is apart) and lube everything up and chase away the rust while I'm at it. There's new meat on the wheels, but without seeing for myself that the bearings were repacked I'm going to at least inspect them.
As requested, more bike porn. These show most of the "bad." You can't see it in any of the pictures, but the rod on the shock is noticeably wet with oil. I hope it's only a seal and not a bent rod!

That bike is not 10 years old. No way. 2001 was something a year or two ago. I swear.

I dug into the factory service manual last night to see what it would take to rebuild that shock. Holy crap does it seem complicated (I was, for some reason, expecting it to be as easy as the front forks on the 9er)
I hang out at the shop that sold it to me pretty frequently. Their mechanic is really friendly and offers advice at the worlds best price (free.) He has grandkids that have no interest in learning how to work on a motorcycle, so I'm tempted to hit him up for an apprenticeship. I have no intention of making it my career, but I take pride in doing damn never everything myself.
