Kind of getting a late start on planning...but I think that we are going to the vintage event in July.
Those of you who've been to the facility, is it like VIR, out in the middle of nowhere or what? Any advice or recomendations?
Mid-Ohio is one of the most beautiful facilities around, set in the rolling green hills of north central Ohio. It's located next to Lexington which is a very small town of about 4000 with a couple of stores for basic supplies. Mansfield is not far down the road and it's a good size town of 50,000 with lodging, food, shopping, etc. The track has decent facilities as far as camping, showers and food vendors as well.
We're considering going this year as well, not sure it will work out but if so we'll have to hook up!
Scott pretty much nailed it. Yes, the track is in the middle of nowhere. Once in for the day (don't know if you're camping or not) you don't want to leave to try to get something. It's a few miles to the nearest store. Very nice place and area.

Mid-Ohio is a great track. Nice facility all around. If you arrive via I-71 and exit at route 97 ( I think it's exit 165) there are a few good hotels at the exit, including a Comfort Inn, Quality Inn and Days Inn -- all fairly new. From the hotels to trackside about 15 minutes as I recall. Once you leave the highway it is pretty rural countryside with occasional restaurant or general store.

It's about a 4 hour drive for us, but we're already going to be within 75 miles of there that weekend anyway. We're going to Ohio and attending Gin's Dad's retirement party Friday night and her family reunion Saturday morning, could be up to the track by late afternoon Saturday, stay overnight and come home Sunday.
Our only issue is that we have Tom Petty tickets for Saturday night back in Indy, kind of a yearly tradition for us but I could sell them I suppose.
