Unhappy Marcus Dairy Mall???

Say it ain't so! Do we really need another mall? And to sacrifice Marcus Dairy?

See here Another one bites the dust: no more Marcus Dairy

I'll have to go down there one more time before its too late

Up for a ride?

This is what I had to read first thing today. There have been rumors the past few years but it appears this time they are serious.

I have been going to 'the dairy' since the 70's on a regular basis. It is part of my Sunday morning ritual. A lot of friendships have been formed thanks in part to Marcus Dairy Sundays. Those of you who attended last weeks BBQ had a taste (no pun intended) of a typical Sunday morning at the dairy.

The loss of the institution will be hard to take. Sunday mornings will never be the same.

At least I got to attend once and know of what you speak. That is a nice spot for all the gatherings. Maybe the new place will still be able to handle some type of gathering, but the overpass shade may or may not be available.

Sorry about your "loss" Mike. Just hope they don't throw up a Starbucks.

It is my first inclination to throw up a Starbucks.

So where will the new "gathering place" be? There are a whole lot of people with a serious need to continue the tradition.

This sucks and I have heard that this has been in the works. I have been going to the Dairy for the past 10 years I have lived in CT. I just hope there's a spot for us to meet up or we may have to find a new gathering place.

I just caught this thread.......this is sooooo not cool. Any chance we could start a "save the Dairy petition"?

It was the Marcus Family's decision to do this for financial resaons, since the dairy was not making any money, and they do plan to keep the coffee shop going (based on the article posted by ortonomics https://www.wristtwisters.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=7261 )

I would make an effort to contact the Marcus family to ask if they will allow the tradition to continue, and have an area in the parking lot designated for that purpose. I got a feeling they already hope that it will continue.
