They say it's unclear whether she was wearing a helmet. My Miami instincts say probably not. Apart from that, I'm quite sure the macho drunk in the Mercedes was taunting the hot girl on the GSXR.

Sad story, I hope that driver gets thrown in a real cage if they do find he was drunk. It still baffles me that riders still would ride without using a helmet, even if they have the choice not to.

I remember a statistic that was published when California made helmets mandatory their motorcycle accident death rate dropped drastically. Not sure the exact numbers, but if I remember correctly, it was in the 50% ball-park.

qft.... on my coupla trips to texas to visit some of the gf's family, a family member showed up on a moto without a helmet and i asked him where it was... he looked at me funny like... wtf are you talking about, and said helmets rnt required here in texas. Myself personally would never ride without a helmet at a MINIMUM.

its sad to hear about the girl... tiz a shame.

What is your source? Every news article that I can find says she was "riding" her Suzuki. I'm curious to know what really happened, and if she was wearing a helmet, and if the other guy was drunk. I admit that I am prejudging the accident a bit as I see what happens here all the time.

Miami Heat dancer Nancy G. Lopez Ruiz killed in motorcycle crash

This one says she was hit while at a red light. That sounds all too familiar. Who knows though. There are lots of hits if you use her name, but most are just rehashing the OP link.

local friend of hers.... guy named adam.... this is quoted directly off his facebook... take it for what it is.... and his facebook page avatar is a photo of him and her *(and its not a publicity type photo... its a home photo)....

So I just learned that a security camera caught Nancy Lopez's accident. Come to find out, she wasn't even on the bike when she got hit....she was standing beside it adjusting/fixing something and was hit as she was in the process of putting her helmet back on (which explains why her helmet was away from her body). But ...still the one good thing is that she never saw or felt a thing.
