Nah mate, each to their own. At least he/she has done a good job of applying that 'American' style.

But it is not my cup-o-tea either.

Just my opinion here but I personally think it looks too "pretty" and yes he does need slapped, or maybe someone should push his bike over. I cant believe I actually suggested that. A little too much?

WTF... I'd slap him because he spent $65,000 on it. The different motorcycles I'd have if I had $65k to burn...

You could try - but good luck pushing it over with that big fat square rear tyre! Bike does not need a side stand.

nd4, Ive made shit go straight faaaast, aside from the "NOS" which probally never even got used (bling bling foo!) I bet the bike went faster in a straight line bone stock with that Dual chain situation and 47lbs of tire. Ugh I wanna barf.

Bigdaa, Id definitly shit on it... then Id sell it cause unfourtunatly AllanB is right and someone over here would buy it.

The more I look at it the more it pisses me off, Chrome is for classics and G dawg stuff. Id LOVE to to have a Gsx-r1k and this asshole goes and does this to it. The balls on that guy! Then he wants sell it for nearly twice as much as a new one!

Unfortunately guys it is considered by the rest of the world as a 'American' style - I'm presuming that it started as a drag racing 'look' with a slightly lengthened swingarm - maybe a few weekend drag guys ran their bikes on the road and the 'look' got picked up. And fair enough, with your love of the drag strip - nowhere is drag racing bigger than the USA.

Then what started as a hard-arse drag look went too far and people with far too much money (and far too little taste!) took the style to the extreme of the OP.

Personally it is beyond me why you'd do that to a perfectly good bike, but I can appreciate the dedication and quality of application. A bit like those women who get enormous boob implants - why is beyond me, but a part of me (ahem) can appreciate the application.

I gotta back Allan on this one...

I can appreciate the work put into it (I've logged a several hours on an airbrush), but IMO it all comes down to a waste of $65k and a decent bike.
In one word... OVERKILL

I always have to laugh & roll my eyes when I see the ads where people are selling their custom painted bike with matching custom painted helmet... what are the odds that the buyer is going to be able to wear the same size helmet? Personally, I'd rather buy a new helmet than buy a used one - nothing like being trapped in a confined space with someone else's funk.

looking at the chain setup on that makes me think of a old polars sportsman 400 POS has 3 diff chains, takes hours to adjust them all, kinda like this would for those 2 chains.

i like the quality of the paint job, cant get that quality on a bike around here unless i do it myself and i dont airbrush so sucks to be me. the amount that he painted is overkill to me. im not a fan of chrome so that i dont like, but had it been black chrome power coat i would dig it.

PS: I did a 6 month paint job on a classic Road Racer bicycle a few years ago. I primed and sanded and then got bored. I finished the paint several months later!

I really appreciate the time and effort put into building something like that, but it's WAY overdone. Not my style at all. He's asking about $19K too much for it.

It's the equivalent of someone "pimpin'" a Bucati Veyron. End result = vile.

Brian:

Allan is more than capable of defending his opinion, but he does have a point and I don’t think he meant any offense to our American cousins.

You have to realise that we (outside of the US) get fed a lot of American TV and therefore a lot of people form an opinion on American style and way of life by what Hollywood portrays it to be.

Programs like Pimp My Ride, OC Choppers, and the whole gangster rap music culture, etc. etc. is lapped up by the rest of the world. Everywhere we see people mimicking the American styles, fads, etc. Just last week I saw a program on German TV, about a lowrider (bouncing cars) competition in Germany!

Fortunately a few of us can think and realise what we see on TV (what Hollywood is feeding us) is not representative of mainstream America.

Re: NZ

I well see ya'll point from Down Under.
We ( RedNecks ) really get a kick outta seeing the Stars try to mimic us in the Deep South movies. They drag out a sentence like they are on overtime at work.
I have been here for 63 yrs, and have never heard anyone talk like Chief Gillsbee and Bubba Skinner ( heat of the night ) or Gregory Peck in ( To kill a mockingbird ) And NOBODY can fake a New Orleans or Lafayette, LA dialec. You either raised there or you ain't.

No offense taken - better that "I crack you up, than be up your crack" - that's what I always say .........

Best to appreciate the good motoring styles that have come out of the USA and not dwell on the bad:

Original Muscle cars
Hot Rods
Bobbers
Old School Choppers
Tail Fins on 50's cars
Flat tracker street bike customs
Rat Rods

Feel free to add to my list, maybe start a new thread.

As good as most Harley's are to me -

I have to ask, why ruin a perfectly good motorcycle, but to each his/her own.

We have a Busa in our store now with a similar treatment. The owner really hates it, as the handling is horrible and thanks to the stretched swingarm, it does not hook up.

Oh well.....

Aussies and Kiwis need to remember that most Americans hate the fuck out of Hollywood these days. The place sucks donkey balls and cheese dicks. I know! I live 100 miles north in the home du jour of many a shithead star. Montecito and Hope Ranch are two local enclaves that harbor the ubber famous twits of Sunset Blvd. We even have that pimp-whore man/bear/pig ALGore living up here on Padaro Ln. Hollywood is the last place the world should look to identify with Americans. Try Pacoima

Now that depends - was he hot looking?

See now I'm really confused - are you saying that in the US poo-pushers ride Triumphs?

I'll get Mrs B to take a picture of me on my Honda!

Actually funny thing - on the New Zealand bike forums it is a weird in-house joke that Hondas are gay - but they spell it with a H as in 'ghey'. There is a lot of back and forth comments often, I think it is a jelously thing as Hondas are so tidy and reliable

Even worse - last weekend I saw a bright orange sport bike fatting along one of our main roads with a extended swing-arm - I did not see enough to identify the bike (was not a Bussa) - so even that style has worked it's way down here. And due to it's uniqueness it was quite eye catching (now that's gay!).

no poo pushers usually ride each other, lol.

I'm sorry that sucks, my buddy had an extended gsx-r back in 97ish? but he did have some motor/suspension and a bigboy shot of squeeze and he did drag it for money during bike week and at the track the rest of the year. And this 320 rear tire bullshit needs to stay with the crusier crowd or not but it certainly has no place in the sport bike market.

On A side note I think I saw the gsx-r (if you wanna call it that still) in the CL ad going down the road yesterday. I just caught a glimpse but it looked like it, hopefully there isnt something similar fartin around.

I am in Fl though....
