Honda has THE best red

Even though the bike is on the stands and the tank is up on a block of wood so I can change the plugs, and the radiator is off its mounts because I took the pipe off to have a coating put on it, when the sun comes in the back door of the garage, I still stop and admire that Honda red.

The new one looks good too. This red would be my choice over the black one.

I have the red, black is also nice. But whoever sold honda on black primer killed any interest in the 919 the first year.

Nah, man, maroon is what you get when you ride CERTAIN brands of bike too far from the dealership.

I think their blue is also on point too.

I've had both the red and the blue and like them equally as much.

That's a 996 Firestorm/Superhawk in the above pic. Way back when, I remember having a terrible time deciding between that bike and the 919. I found the 919 more comfortable, for me at least. The Superhawk got terrible gas mileage, and thus had a short range. The 919 probably was the better choice.

Over the years, I've ridden 3 of those SHs. One was box stock, and unimpressive. The second one I rode, I don't remember much, other than it was yellow. The last one had an ignition advance, jetted and Erion cans. That one was fast. I was in the hunt for a minty candy blue one last year. I was a day or 2 late. Probably a good thing. Having a couple of 990 Super Dukes, and a Streetfighter, I have the V2 thing covered.

My co worker bought one of the asphalt colored 919s the first year they came out. Butt ugly, killed sales and the bike never recovered.
Love my 2007 red one a bunch.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but the asphalt on the '02 is what first caught my eye back in the day. I wasn't riding street back then, but seeing that bike, I decided that's what I wanted if I were to get a street bike.

I didn't get serious until '09, and due to availability in my area I ended up with an '06. Definitely loved the red on that bike, but it didn't make me dislike the asphalt at all. If I were to get a 9'er again, it'd be a tough choice for me.

On topic, I'd have to say the red on the '06-'07 9'ers is one of my favorite red finishes.

Honda has the best red and also the crappiest.
My 02 Aussie 919 came stock. It's colour was the same crappy red that all our postie bikes are painted. The last thing I wanted was a postie bike on steroids. That's why mine is probably the only gun metal matt black 919 in Australia. It's an American 919 colour only. The 919 came out in a variety of colours. I also considered the nice red and the silver.
