first proper bike trip coming up, Ann Arbor to Toronto

I got my (02) 919 in January 06, and have put 9000 miles on it, all running the same 22 miles to work and back home at the end of the day (well, I did go to Toledo once, and Jackson today. 40 mile long hauls those trips were!). Working six days a week will do that to you, and it will also keep you from doing any proper road tripping. Well, discontent at home and the labor day weekend have me headed to Toronto and I am excited. The long, lonely 401 awaits. Hopefully there's still no cops and no construction on it... anyone familiar with it this days? I used to go to Toronto regularly 7 or 8 years ago, and it was a laugh worthy joke when they put up billboards stating "speed limit enforced!". Now I'm jinxing myself for sure.

I've got my regular tail soft pod and I'll be experimenting with the wife's saddlebags this week before I go. Hopefully they don't melt... anyone ever have any trouble putting soft cordura saddlebags over the 919 stock exhaust? I used to sling my thermos over it and it was fine, until the day it bounced over to the exhaust outlet and got a hole melted straight through it.

Anyway... I can't wait!

taking 401 to toronto.
I will try to get you the link but there is a big crackdown in ontrario on speeders.
they have bought a few aiplanes to tracks speeders and then net them on the 401.
the fines are very high.

since you are riding a 919
why take the 401?
why not take some of the lovely secondary highways.

if you were riding a cbr1100xx , a hayabusa, or zxr12.
or a death cage
I would say take the 401 and flip your mirrors up.
but on a 919 there are better alternatives imho.

even if you take route 3 all the way to toronto you add only 1 hr to your travelling time
