Question F650 for a 919

I have an opportunity to trade an '03 BMW F650 for an '03 919. The thumper is in good shape with a Corbin seat, ABS, hard bags and 12,500 miles. The '03 919 is stock, 7500 miles with some cosmetic issues, scratched, some rust on tank just dirty from being kept on NYC streets. I rode the 919 and it is a lot of fun, in the summer I have a 100 mile commute a couple times a week. What does the forum think about this deal? Oh yeah, my name's Peter and I'm new around here.

if i were you peter, i'd put the stock seat back on and sell the corbin seperately (if you have the stock seat that is), and insist on the rust being fixed, and make the trade. the 919 is a hoot and can be converted to touring duty VERY easily.

my riding buddy has a 650 and I have an 03 919, for what your doing, the 9er wins. the 650 gets better mileage, but the 9er is so much smoother, and as was previouly stated, can be set up with a hard case, bags, etc. We have done some camping; I'll ride the twisties while he hits the dirt roads, but while on the two lane, there is no comparison.

I hope your getting some money with that trade! Use it to fix the rusty parts on the 9er and you will love the bike. Or use it to grab a Corbin seat and slowly replace the rusted parts as you go. 100mi commute I myself would buy the Corbin seat.

I just rode the 650 home, New Paltz to Brooklyn in an hour forty, it is a sweet bike and cosmetically in better shape then the 919. Thanks for the advice some greenbacks toward a seat would be helpful.

It looks like the deal is going down, we are both going to sleep on it. The second party is going to sell the BMW to his friend. My guess is they are working out payment. The BMW actually has 16,000 miles on it, the 919 7,500. I showed the wife the 919 and she says, "At least that bike has balls." Got to love those Brooklyn women.

So you don't own either one? I'm confused, but it's not the first time that's happened on here.

So the buyer is going to immediately sell the bike you sell him, and you end up with a 919? Sweet.

We have a verbal agreement, I can't find the title so I have to wait for NY state to send me another in about a week.
