Couldn't Resist A Little Ride!

After a lot of snow and cold temps for the past three months it finally got up to 56 degrees and was full sun here on the eastern edge of PA today! So I decided it would be nice day to pull the 9'er out and slap the battery in for a little fire-up. I wasn't planning on hitting the road at all, but as the bike sat idling in the driveway I couldn't help myself! It was a fairly short ride but it felt soooooo good!

Anyone else take advantage of a reprieve from winter for a ride today?

I couldn't resist today either. I took the RS out yesterday and the RC51 out today. Tomorrow if all goes well I'll take out the old CB350 for a little spin to blow the cobwebs out.

After many years and many dreams I have realized my goal of riding in all 50 states!

Now the rest of the world!

Weather here in the NW has been steadily in the 50's. Got a little frisky and even took off the windshield...

Gorgeous here in Colorado today. Out for three hours on the 919, including a stretch of the Peak to Peak from Estes Park to Nederland. Of course, there was a short stretch of riding on ice that freaked me out a bit (what can I say, I'm a wuss), but the bike stayed upright and it was all good.

Whoa - I missed that thread with the windshield - never saw one that big on a 9'er! But it's awesome if it keeps you riding through the winter!

I'm ordering new tires this week so so I'll be ready when the persistent warm weather gets here! I'm going for the Pilot Road 2 - can't wait to get them ordered and mounted!

Got the 9'er out for the first time yesterday too. Was warm enough, sun was shining and the roads were dry. I couldn't resist.

I wish I'd had time to ride this weekend, unfortunately I was quite busy...I can't complain much, though. I've been riding everyday that there wasn't actual ice on the main roads here...the warm weather would have been nice though

Well, fire the engines! Spur this iron space-pony on!

got the 9er out yesterday too with the wife for a few hours. first time since late December....was good stuff.

I will say the sand on the roads is really deceptive...i.e., i know it's slippery, didn't realize how slippery it was though....and lots of potholes from the snow still sneak up on ya....

can't wait for it to get even warmer....

The highways around here are in rough shape after the snowplows...tons of big potholes and edge-traps where slabs intersect...gots to be careful so they don't grab the front wheel!

Pretty much the same here, but I couldn't stay home on a 65 degree day.

Did a nice 80 mile out and back ride today.

Nice pic fehren2800!

We're supposed to get a LOT of rain over the next few days around this area so hopefully a lot of the winter crud will be will be cleaned off the roads for next week and it will get warmer too!

Only rode to work today, 37 degrees when I left the house, the new BarkBuster Storm hand gaurds did really well, wore my regular gloves and my hands got cold but none of the snapping off a fingertip cold I expected.

I hope so too. Funny thing is last weekend on my way home from work the forecast was sunny and clear for the next 5 days and there was a tanker truck full of liquid ice melt hosing down the interstate for all he was worth! I guess they have to get rid of it or something.

Hand guards you say. I can see the appeal of those to keep the wind off. Someday I think I'll have to try a pair, still like the hippo hands though.

I like them, I got the S7 version, they bolt right to the G2 Ergo inserts in the end of my Renthals and when the weather warms up I can just unbolt them and re install the G2 grip protectors.

Went and bought gas today, two cans.

One for mowin', the other, for the old bike -

Today, the 1975 CB750 drag bike came out of the garage.

Slapped a tag on it, added the fuel, turned the key - still a charge from last year, good.

Looked across the street, garage sale, yard full of people.

nice.

Check tire pressure, put the front at 40, the rear low thirties......

Slowly kick the bike over once, twice, with the key off, just to get everything moving again, try to get a piston close to TDC - felt OK, good.

OK, fuel - on, flowing, wait for the bowls to fill.

Key on, choke on, KICK

nothing

Second kick - the walls of hell itself are shattered by the sound of a inline four with a open 4-1 megaphone exhaust -

sweeeeet - and I'm sure the people across the street appreciated it.

Put a helmet on, still had my mowing sneekers, shorts and tee-shirt on, took it out for a warm up run.

A long one
