I've used Verizon for quite awhile. Always seem to have a signal, even off the beaten path. Only drawback is no SIM card.

Have only tried cingular/BellSouth/ATT and it sucks at the worse moment but I am to afraid to try a new carrier for fear that it will suck even more than this one.

I hate phones, I hate talking on the phone but it pisses me off that everytime I decide to use it, my calls get drop or I loose signal... Pfftt, AJ you are bringing back bad memmories but I need money for my gambling habit

I have used Cingular/AT&T for the last five years or so with very good service until the merger/buyout. Now I have more dropped calls than ever before and my servie areas are more sporadic. I voted other simply because I am about to change carriers and go with the Helio Ocean. Call me a tech-nut, but it has eveything I've been looking for in a phone.

i've had Verizon, Sprint, Cingular, AT&T and T-Mobile. have had Verizon now for 4 years this go 'round. Definitely the best signal and service areas I've found. I used to work for Circuit City, so i've been around the block. and for phones, the LG's have served me VERY well!

I like the LG's too. I used one in Korea for two years, and never a problem. When I got back to the states, I bought another one and never looked back.

Verizon had the best coverage before they dumped analog. Hopefully they offer a good nokia when my contract is up..., saw the new voyager (~iphone + KB) last night and was tempted.

I've had Cingular / AT&T for years. But, lately they are horrible! They place me from a personal account to a business account and refuse to put me back and due to nature of the account I can't port my number. It's the same number I've had with them for years! I cannot express how bad a taste they have left with me. I need to wait out the contract to save the number that I've have for over 10 years that everyone has regarding me.

I have recently been using Verizon for my Blackberry services and have to say the they have better coverage. I have not tried it internationally yet. That was one of the things that Cingular was decent with, global coverage, but it was costly!

As long as you don't mind that they cripple awesome features that are built into their phones so that you have to pay them for the service(s).

And a funny thing about them, they are the only company that advertises about not having dropped calls (their commercials are funny) and they have the most dropped calls. I have like 3 dropped calls with Verizon in 4 years.. with cingular they were a daily event.

+100

Same shiot happened again with the Bellsouth/Cingular merger, buy-out or... what-e-va they call it this days. Everytime there is a merger/buyout, the service plumeth and we suffer. they are already ripping us a new ass with the telecommunication prices in this country (some like it more than others ) and now this?

I once had sprint and with their weak signal had to make all calls from outside near the street. Dumped it for V, now when I see someone talking near the street I ask "Got Sprint ehhh?" They respond "Yes, how did you know?"

I have a Nextel radio only that I use to communicate with a few Brazilian customers (and whomever else has nextel radio number of my friends) and for the most part, it works, although, there are certain moments that the communication is so bad, you can't hear crap but... it is good most of the times.

If you're going to try something new, make sure you can give it back within 30 days if it totally sucks.
I've heard the same thing about Sprint from several people but have not heard anything about Helio. I've tried five carriers since '94 and have stuck with Verizon the longest.

I think Helio is reselling AT&T wireless coverage. I will not go with Verizon for their monthly costs. Their cheapest voice/data package is $79.99 w/ 450 minutes.

I'm paying $39.99 for 1000 minutes w/ rollover and another $20/month for unlimited data w/ 200 text messages. The biggest reason I am switching is that my phone is nearly dead and AT&T wants me to pay full price for a phone since my contract doesn't run out until Nov. 23. I am transferring the contract to a friend and starting fresh w/ a new carrier.

I have had US Cellular/Midwest Wireless/Alltel. I prefer Alltel to any of the others I have available. We use US Cellular for work phones, its OK. We looked at Sprint and Nextel in for work as well and took phones out around the city to compare service, they do OK in town, but rurals they suck. Its all in where you live I think.

Call me a sucker for doing it, but I went with Verizon. I opted for the LG enV w/ full qwerty keyboard, 3G speed, unlimited data, messaging and 450 minutes. I'll try it for 30 days and decide If I want to keep their service or not.

Alltel's qwerty phone is still on pre-order and their return policy is 15 days if not satisfied. That will be my next course if the Verizon is not to my liking.

My biggest reasoning for Verizon was the number of friends and family already on their network. That saves my minutes used per month considerably.

Ridge,

Hmm, and I was leaning towards babyBell/MotoQ... Maybe I'll stick with Verizon. I'm very interested in your review? The last lg/ss phones I tried 1.5ya were lousy (sound/signal) and returned. Still using my tough 5yr nokia.

ALLTEL all the way.... all others suck....
But seriously they have the best network in the country and the only reason carriers like Verizon or US cell, or ATT for that matter are able to even offer coverage off of major interstates and highways is because of their roaming agreements with ALLTEL

Stopped by the Verizon store last night, and was impressed by the blackberry 8130 for $50. Granted no full querty keyboard like the LG, but compact and I'd want to buy a North American phone.

The phone Salesman shared a new disturbing statistic, more road deaths are caused by cell phones than drunk drivers!!!

at&t and many other national carriers rolled out $99 a month unlimited calling plans. Also sprint is jumping on same bandwaggon but possibly doing it at $60, got to wait a while for sprint to do it. Also i think tmobile went one step further and offer it at $99 a month with unlimited text or data. THey all are horrible, but they all know people rely on them, so I don't really think they care to make one or two hundred people mad. Thus why they have the worse statisfied customers. Probably greatest part is that they are allowing people to switch to those new plans with not creating a new 2 year agreement.

Timing is good! Apparently the broadband access is much faster on at&t. They also offer the new MotoQ Global PDA which has received fantastic reviews for sound clarity, signal strength and a solid user interface. I've made my choice now will wait for a sale.
