State police do not keep speed records. But if they did, the motorcyclist clocked at 147 miles per hour last night on Interstate 81 in Silver Spring Township would likely rank high on the list, police said.
The red 2003 Honda CBR 600RR was clocked by a state trooper operating radar in a construction zone in the northbound lanes just before the Mechanicsburg-Route 114 exit (Exit 57).
“I'd have to say 147 mph probably ranks up there, without a doubt,” said state police spokesman Trooper Thomas Pinkerton.
Share The motorcyclist, a 24-year-old man from Enola, was stopped near the exit when his path was blocked by three tractor trailers which were clustered together, police said.
Police said the motorcyclist was believed to be under the influence and was taken for chemical testing. The motorcyclist's name will be released once the blood alcohol results are back and charges have been filed, police said.
